Key Logger question

I really like this place :)

Chance to ask some of the question I have always wondered about

Norton AntiVirus 2008

Windows Vista OS with Vista SP2

DSL modem, no hard firewall

In regard to keyloggers. To me they are one of the scariest items that you can get infected with. I know that many of them now have the capability of taking screen shots. makes me concerned about on-line banking. My spouse says that the various encryption techniques of our bank website keep us safe:

-the rotating security questions (example what was your first dog's name and such)

-the fact that the account number is not there on teh page in full ( like just teh last few numbers)

-needing to put in the sqiggly code words at the bottom of the page(word verification?)

My spouse thinks those provide excellent safety. I have tried to explain that with the ability of key loggers to take screen shots ( are they also able to take streaming, video shots now too?) and record key strokes, allows them to see what is typed into what boxes.  Who is more correct, my spouse thinking it is very safe, or me thinking it is not really that safe?

by the way, I know the excellent products from Norton, even the older version of antivirus such as 2008 provide protection from known key loggers. But I'm referring to any new key loggers that might get on before Norton has them figured

thanks all
