My 8 and 10 year old have figured out how to get around Norton Family. They are both on the ASD spectrum, so in order to keep peace in the house after 12 hours of screaming, we capitulate.
Is there ANY way Norton Family can run in the background to where my kids have no idea that it is running? I really want to block them from typing in funny names that would make any kid (or adult) giggle, such as "butt.com".

Thanks for getting back to me. Glad to read that you all thought about this issue, namely the ability for adults to block other adult users. The product says "Family", but the discussion was about adult to adult - please reconsider the argument.
You asked a technical question of how they get around the system. This is not a technical issue, but a human issue. Both of my kids have social and communication behavioral issues. So yes, I know exactly how they get around it - by having week long melt-downs and anti-social behavior.
When getting 75 emails a day saying "he's been warned", I have become numb to the emails and ignore, as much as they ignore the warnings.
In a nutshell any way you can get a stealth version?
There are a host of stealth web-filtering products available (SpyAgent, Webwatcher, PC Pandora, Spector Pro), some are free, such as K9. In the meantime, I'll try using one of those products, and hope that Norton will change its policy.
