I have Norton Small Business (similar to Norton Internet Security) and have been very happy with the product for over 5 years. However, starting with a Windows 11 update in October, everything changed. I began to experience issues with websites loading. It started with a single website like Amazon or Facebook, but quickly spread until I couldn’t access ANY website including my Microsoft Administration pages or my business VOIP. Websites just hang and the circle of death just spins regardless of browser or after any of the default protocols for troubleshooting. Literally NOTHING works. I won’t go into everything I have done to troubleshoot, suffice to say I have spent DAYS on the phone with Dell, Microsoft & Norton highest level product support trying everything from DNS flush to a full fresh Windows install. We have determined that NORTON is the issue. Just turning Norton off temporarily doesn’t work, the entire program MUST BE FULLY UNINSTALLED or the problem persists. Once Norton is uninstalled, POOF everything loads beautifully. The only known workaround is to uninstall then reinstall Norton which only buys you a few days until the problem takes root and spreads again and stops all web access and you must uninstall again. I have repeated this cycle at least 10 times since October and it only buys me a few days at a time before I have to repeat the uninstall/reinstall. I have an open ticket with the highest level of support with Norton so they are aware of the problem, but I have been waiting on a resolution for MONTHS. I raise this here because if others are experiencing similar problems, I can tell you it does not get better and removing Norton is the only known resolution at this time. I wanted to save you WEEKS of wasted time and suggest you go right to reporting it to Norton. Perhaps if more of us report it, this will actually get the attention it deserves. It’s been 2 weeks since I last talked to Norton so I called today and they have NO updates or ETA on resolution and their answer was to just sit by the phone and wait for their call at some unknown point in the distant future. Your call if you want to do that. At this stage, until Norton learns to play nice with Windows, I’ll be looking for an alternative.
