Laptob got robbed, any chance of retrieving it using norton?

I read a article about how a person recovered his laptopb after it was stolen thanks to the norton services, they tracked down the persons whereabouts and everything he was doing on the computer. My apartment was recently robbed and i am wondering if there is any possible way to retrieve my laptob with support from norton. I have a 1 year norton virus protection on my laptob, any chances on retrieving it back? can anybody pleasse assist me? i am in need of help seeing as how i dont have much money. Please help, thanks

   To find the whereabouts of the stolen laptop and to lock it, you should have purchased and installed the Norton Antitheft in it.

First, be sure you make a complete police report. Give them the serial number of the laptop. If it was a Dell they will need the service tag number. That information can be entered into a national database of stolen property. If you have registered your computer with the manufacturer do notify them that it has been stolen and give them the police report number. They can flag the serial number and notify the police when and where it shows up.

I can only hope that you have your data backed up and that you have password protected access to the computer.

If you have any idea who might have taken it that too will help the police. If your computer is found in a pawn shop or similar establishment what happens next will depend upon the law and police policies.

Keep in touch with the investigating officer but don't be a pest. It may be that you will be allowed to buy the computer back from the pawn shop. I know this isn't the ideal solution from your point of view but it is one of the options available. Most pawn brokers will be reasonable undere these circumstances and only ask what they have paid. That's not a promise or a policy so no bets.

PS: In order to get tracking information released by a company the police often are required to get a court order. It protects the company and the police.
