I am doing a full scan with "Norton Security with Backup" version 22.6.0.142, on a Windows 10 PC. It has been working for 3 days on a single 26 GB ZIPX file.
Windows' Resource Monitor's "Disk" tab indicates that the file in question is being read:
* "system" reads it at a rate of about 6 MB/s
* "nsbu.exe" reads it at a very variable but much lower rate, between 10 and 100 kB/s
The 10 to 100 kB/s rate could explain why the scan of the file is so slow. A simple division suggests that it would take an order of magnitude of 300 h, i.e. 2 weeks.
I have pressed "Help" in the "Norton Security with Backup" home window; this opened the "Help Center" window; I pressed "get support;" this ran "Norton Autofix." This did not indicate a problem.
Any clue as to why Norton is so slow to scan this type of file and what I may do to accelerate the process? If this is normal, any way to have Norton indicate its progress with this particular file? Any way to know if it's OK to turn off the PC without losing the scan work already done on the file?
Love,
