We received a letter supposedly from the US Department of Justice concerning a breach of information on May 30th, 2023 involving GMA which handles Medicare information for millions. They are offering credit monitoring through a company called IdentifyForce. Of course IdentityForce will want all our personal information. First flag is it is coming from the Dept of Justice. There is some information on the news about a breach and shows the letter heading like our letter but I am only finding this on Youtube. Anyone know anything about this. I referred the letter to Norton but haven't heard back. Thanks
i myself have not seen any mention recently about this breach at all ( news , online etc..)
so would be very cautious
scammers are very good at making things look legit

I understand Norton has nothing to do with the letter but with over 350,000 people receiving this letter maybe the Norton security team knows if it really happened and if the credit monitoring being offered is legit. However, good idea to contact the DOJ and see what they know.
I am checking several sources before giving out more information and Norton asked me to send copies of the letter to them. I am waiting for their reply.
Norton would have nothing to do with the authenticity of a mailed letter. You should try contacting the Department of Justice by independently finding the phone number and not relying on any phone numbers in the letter.
