License renewal

My NIS 2009 license is expiring in 7 days. Back in October, I upgraded to NIS 2010 when Symantec offered this option to the life of the current license.

So, I have NIS 2010 updated to the last minute and already running in my system. For renewal purposes, I just purchased a copy of NIS 2010 in a store and I am wondering:

-- Do I have to uninstall NIS 2010 now running and totally updated in my system?

-- Do I have to then reinstall it using the disk I purchased for the purpose of renewing my license?

-- Or is it any way to simply change the current license key to the one I just purchased?

I have 3 PCs, so this would save me some time.

Thanks in advance for any help.

i just put product key in and activate it

Hi LinYu2,

You do not have to uninstall anything. However: please wait until the last day of your current subscription; then type in your new product key (you will find it on the CD sleeve), and that is all you will need; to read how to renew NIS 2010 by typing in a new product key, you can follow Wikipedian's instructions over here:

http://community.norton.com/norton/board/message?board.id=nis_feedback&message.id=89197#M89197

If you type in your new product key beforehand, you will lose the days remaining from your old subscription - this is because you are using a new product key altogether, so the days from the previous subscription will not be added to your new one. This is why I suggested waiting till the last day of your current subscription, shortly before your NIS expires.

If you run into any problems during activation (e.g. wrong number of days indicated), then you can chat for free with Symantec Customer Support at this link and explain the situation to them:

Hi Yaso_Kuuhl,

Wonderful help, as usual  --  thorough, to the point and not letting out the smaller details (such as the best timing for taking action).

Thank you very, very much. And have a great weekend.
