Welcome to Norton Support, my name is Jessele. Please give me a minute to go through the information you have provided.
Will I be able to upgrade my current active subscription product NIS v21.5
to the new product Norton Security upon it's release.  Or, do I have to wait for my NIS subscription to run out and buy new license key for new product Norton Security.
Benjamin: Hello
Jessele : Thank you for waiting. Technically you can go ahead and upgrade to Norton Security when it is released and you just need to uninstall Norton Internet Security then install Norton Security.
Benjamin  So, Norton is offering a free upgrade to users with current active subscriptions
Jessele : You need to buy the latest Norton product but just in case you still have an active subscription, we can transfer the days from the previous one to the Norton Security.
Benjamin: I only have a Local vault with NIS. Will I retain my Local vault with the uninstall of NIS and install of Norton Security
Jessele : Benjamin, with Norton Security we only have the Online Vault and we would recommend that you back up for you log ins first before doing the uninstallation so that we can import it once Norton Security is installed.
Benjamin: How long will support last for current Norton products
Jessele : We will still support Norton core products and also you can renew the same subscription that you have.
Benjamin: When I backup my logins. Are CSV and DAT compatible with Online Vault
Jessele : The DAT file is the one we use for the online vault.
Benjamin : But, I will be able to export CSV
Benjamin: I usually print out the CSV backup
Jessele : My mistake. We can use either of the CSV and DAT files
Benjamin : The support article states
Benjamin : In general, Symantec will allow customers to renew their subscription for 36 months from the initial purchase date.
Benjamin : What is the defintion of the initial purcahse date. I've been using NIS for 7 years. Is it 36 months from 7 years
Benjamin : I've already renewed my subscription longer than 36 months
Jessele Mary: Let me clear this issue with my support.
Benjamin : Is it 36 months from my current subscrition initial purchase date
Jessele : Give me 2-3 minutes.
Benjamin : OK
Jessele : Sorry for the long wait. Yes, all current customers may continue to renew their existing products for the foreseeable future.
Benjamin : So, no user will be forced into new Norton Security before they're ready
Jessele : Yes. All products will continue to deliver protection through the end of their subscription term. Shortly after Norton Security and Norton Security with Backup are made available, a transition option will be made available to existing customers.
Jessele : You have the option to upgrade or not.
Benjamin : Thank you
Benjamin : End
