Live Update completes successfully, but Protection Updates still Not Fixed

Running NIS 2011 (18.6.0.29) on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, with SP1.

Noticed an alert from the Windows Action Center today, asking if I wanted to run a program "C:\Program Files (x86)]Norton Internet Security\Engine\18.6.0.29\WSCStub.exe"  Ignoring the alert until I could check into the program, I opened the NIS gui and ran Live Update, which completed successfully.

NIS then changed the system status to Attention, and informed me that Live Update hadn't run in 3 days.  I used the Fix Now button, Live Update completed successfully (finding no new updates) but Fix Now gave me a Protection Updates: Not Fixed error.  I then turned my attention back to WSCStub.exe, and finding no reason not to trust it, allowed it to run, which simply brought the NIS gui back up, and made no visible changes to anything.

The support chat bot suggested that the symptoms might be caused by a threat, so I ran a full scan in NIS, a full MBAM scan, a full Spybot S&D scan, and even a scan with the Power Eraser, none of which detected a threat.  NIS shows the proper subscription time remaining.  My system date, time, and time zone are correct, and Service Pack 1 was installed quite some time ago.  I downloaded and ran the Intelligent Updater, which also completed successfully, but did not fix the problem.

Thank you very much for your time,

Thank you floplot, worked like a charm.

I had seen the aforementioned solution, but mistakenly believed it did not pertain to the NIS System Status, only to the Action Center alerts.  Both are working as expected now.
