Hello squibbon,

As explained by GORPY1, yank, and myself, you just have to wait a while, you're still protected.

[edit: Please remain courteous per the Participation Guidelines and Terms of Service.]

I take offense at your reply, Sando_cm - I was merely reporting I was also experiencing the issue.  No where in my post did I indicate any concern over whether my system was safe or compromised.

'Be quiet' - consider yourself reported for inappropriate language.

I think you will find that ALL ourt systems are compromised, it's simply that we don't know about it that makes us feel secure. The NSA can log onto your computer, take your yankee pot roast recipe, a picture of your dog and exit without leaving a trace.

Second point, I think the "Be quiet" might be a second language type thing. I have the same problem with English so "Be quiet" could mean Be cool or be calm or chill and relax.

Best of all, the problem seems to be fixed.......... for now at least.

He's been reported to the mods for inappropriate language - let them sort it out.

Hello squibbon,

I would like to apologize if I offended you unintentionally, that was not my intention to offend you or anyone else.

I was given a different meaning to this word, such as "do not worry because the error you had with LiveUpdate isn't relevant," there was probably a mistake on my part in trying to explain my thinking.

Since I'm Italian and I don't know very well the English language, I haven't played in the right way the meaning of this word during translation.

I wanted to inform you that I am writing in the Norton Community since 2009, and I never wanted to hurt or offend anyone, as this isn't my way of living and communicating with people.

I'm really sorry about this , I sincerely hope you understand what I mean, and at the same time, I would be very grateful to have a reply from you in a friendly way hat can close this discussion due by an error on my part to translate.

Sincerely ,

Sandro

Hi Sandro_cm,

Thanks for the post, I Kudoed your post as well as chatham (as theyhit the nail on the head) and to be honest I guessed the samething as being nasty is not your normal demeanor.

I would certainly like to see squibborn Kudo your last post as a way of atonement!

Hello yank,

I would like to thank you first for your post, your words are always polite and appropriate in every context.
I would also like to thank Tony Weiss, all the Gurus and many people with whom I have always had a great relationship and respect them.

However, I can't say to be happy about how this story is going to end, both as regards squibbon to which I asked him humbly apologize for the misunderstanding , as well as with regard to those "two words" that have been removed by the moderator shannons.
My apologies had in fact virtually removed the 2 words, and I think that it was not necessary to remove them even materially.
Those who don't have read them, now might even think that I have blasphemed or whatever ...

This makes myself offended and indignant to continue to stand still in this forum, despite having tried to do my best in trying to help users, as well as to support Symantec loudly! Symantec should be aware of this. If shannons had read some of my posts where I often wrote nice things about them and also sustaining them when necessary, perhaps this would never have happened.

Bottom line, even though I will continue to use Norton products, at least until the date of expiration of the license, this is the last post I write in this community.

Yours sincerely,
Sandro Margiotta

PS:  I hope that even this message will not be edited or deleted.

Hi Sandro,

I'm sorry for what has happened in this thread involving yourself.

Without entering into the merits of the matter, FWIW I'd like to say that misunderstandings are a common occurrence between/among people whose native language is not the same  - the important thing is that they are promptly clarified.

I understand how you feel right now, however I hope you will reconsider your decision and will continue to be active on these forums, trying to help other users.

Cheers,

Laura

Please reconsider Sandro. Take some time away if you feel it will help you get over the situation, but I (and others) really hate to see a long time helper go away becasue of a misunderstanding caused by a language issue.

I know I for one would never be able to post in a second language, let alone where technical terms are required.

I hope to see you posting in the near future and thanks for all your assistance.

Coming back to life  :smileyhappy:

I am here again, maybe I was too hasty and I was already beginning to feel the lack of all of you.

I have reconsidered the matter that can't end this way due to a user who is offended by nothing.

I've already forgotten this story.

A big thanks to Laura and yank for thoughts.

We will feel soon to continue to give support and help to all those who have the need. :smileyhappy:

Sandro

Glad of your decision, Sandro!

Cheers,

Laura

Hi Laura,

I'm really happy to have made this decision.

I must admit that your previous post as well as the one sent by yank contributed about what I did.

@ yank: a special thanks for your appreciation!

Cheers,
Sandro

Seconded by me too, Sandro. Your posts have always been helpful. Sometimes, what we say gets misinterpreted over the internet, but the soul of this community will always be there. :smileyhappy:

Thank you for the support, F4E

I agree with what you say about Internet, the fact is that sometimes I forget about Internet when I am in the Norton Community.
As for the soul of this community I have no doubt, this is also the reason why I'm here for over 4 years.  :smileyhappy:

Welcome back Sandro - almost like you never left!  :smileyvery-happy:

Thank you very much, yank

From my watch took less than 3 laps of the hour hand, but according to my biological rhythm and reaction time seems to have been passed almost 3 months.  :smileyvery-happy:    :smileyvery-happy::

Hi

I see that the Error 8920.223 has been happening regularly with every release of NIS for the past several tears.  Isn't it about time someone fixed this irritating and disturbing (for those that don't know about it) once and for all?

I am getting this far too frequently with my NIS2014 as I did with both the 2012 and 2013 versions.

These errors are related to trouble accessing the LiveUpdate servers. With the increase in internet traffic every day, there is more chances for a corrupted download to occur.

It is not necessarily a Norton server problem, or a problem with the user's system or product. It can be any one of the internet servers between the user and Norton.

OK the update problem is back as usual!, but this one is a little diffrent.  I went to manually run live update, and it got ~ 75% through the dowload and then just got stuck at around 2.5 MB of a 3.5 MB update.  I then canceled the update as it stopped downloading progress midway through.  Now when I run live update it checks for updates, then just gets stuck as 'processing' when downloading updates.  After it finally fails, it's showing failing on IPS definitions and safeweb statistics.  What's odd is that it's still getting pulse updates and other updates, but it's not showing any download progress on the 'Download Updates' status.

I've had Live Update fail plenty over the past weeks, but I've never seen the Norton Live Update window act this way.  Bascially it seems like it has no problem connecting to the server, but it's no longer showing the xx MB of xx MB progress.

Anyone else seeing this behavior, or failing on the IPS and Safeweb defnitions currently?
