I have 2 computers. One runs Win 7 Ultimate and another older PC runs Win XP SP3.
I just successfully upgraded from NIS 2012 to NIS 2013 on the Win 7 Ultimate PC. The entire upgrade process went fine including doing all the Live Updates afterward until there were not any new ones.
When I tried to upgrade from NIS 2012 to NIS 2013 on the Win XP SP3 machine the upgrade process went fine and I rebooted. BUT .... when I did the Live Updates afterward, the Live Update software would crash OR the whole Norton Internet Security software would crash. It would get stuck on "installing update 7 of 7" or "installing update 10 of 10" ... then software would disappear or crash or "Submit Error to Microsoft" would pop up.
I got the following error message on the Win XP "Event Viewer":
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Application Error
Event Category: (100)
Event ID: 1000
Date: 9/9/2012
Description:
Faulting application ccSvcHst.exe, version 12.1.0.40, faulting module asDcaCl.dll, version 20.1.1.2, fault address 0x000133d8.
Is this a "known issue" with the new Norton Internet Security 2013 software when you try to upgrade from NIS 2012 to NIS 2013 on an XP machine?
Is there a solution I could try in order to fix it? Is somebody at Symantec working hard on fixing this issue now?
Can someone let me know if and when there is a solution? I really need both of my PCs to be working 100%.
