Live Update Fails with error 8921,253

This was crazy and so was the solution for Norton 360 for Windows. Over several days, did all of the usual things, uninstall & reinstall - no help. Run the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool in various iterations - no help. Used online help thru chat box where he manipulated my machine and did all the things I had done and a few more plus he ran windows update and moved me to windows 11 which I was avoiding. Well, if it works, okay, but still live update failed with the same error and autofix as usual was no help. He spent 6 hours on my machine with no solution! I was still getting Error 8921,253 with Live Update.

What did work strangely was reinstalling NordVPN, connecting to the Nord server, AND THEN LIVE UPDATE WORKED!

Why did this work is beyond me. When I previously uninstalled NordVPN several weeks ago, did that adversely affect my machine? Was that fixed on reinstallation?? Don't know, but I thought I would share this strange solution.

when i mentioned 2 vpns i believe the deluxe comes with it already so the nord vpn would be a 2nd vpn ( add on or in addition too)

if it shows in my norton page ( settings) vpn than it would be a option ( doesnt mean its on )

but based on what you stated would seem there may be a conflict or issue between the two

Thank you for your comments. I am running Norton 360 Delux without the Norton VPN, so only one VPN (NordVPN). I do use Acronis backup and downloaded an update and made sure active protection was turned off, so only one antivirus (Norton).

just a observation not saying im correct or anything in the right answer

but if you are running 2 vpn ( norton and nord) that would be the most likely culprit and or cause

such as the case if you had norton and another anitvirus ( security) they would conflict with each other

same concept with vpn would seem to me
