It been doing this for the whole day?

 

Can access any other site and all of symantec but liveupdate gives error?

Please follow the steps suggested for your case and see if that fixes the issue.

I did try it and liveupdate still giving the error?

I assume your case is what is mentioned in Step 2 of the above KB... when was the last LiveUpdate received? 

Did you try rebooting?

Jip reboot and all but still error

Let’s eliminate something simple please verify your system clock reflects the correct date, time and time zone (also check the Daylight Savings setting as the states switched recently).

Did it already and all is correct, wirh time, date etc. .

If you have comepleted all four steps in Rainbow_2's link to the KB with no change in your situation, I would suggest you select Support > Get Support from NIS's main page and let uit run and see if it throws an error or corrects anything in your installation. 

 

If still no joy, my next suggestions would be to run the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool.  This will provide you with a fresh install while maintaining all your settings.  Be sure to run LiveUpdate (rebooting when requested) until LiveUpdate responds "no updates found".

Did the autofix but no fix. This is a new install, only 3 days old? ???

Liveupdate did work for the 3 days, only today error. Is there a way to check if liveupdate server is ok?

I just discovered the rest of the story by checking your history of posts - it sure would have saved sometime if we would have been told that you just went thru this whole deal (minus the error code) a few days ago and fixed it (temporarally it appears).

 

Did you in fact run the NRnRT either then or today? 

 

<edit>  I have seen no report of any server being down, nor are others complaining about it (as of now).

Sorry. The diff between previous story is that then the liveupdate worked but slow and was fixed by installing ver 21.1.1. Liveupdate quick. Been working for 3 days but now liveupdate dead not slow

I ran the “check new version”, downloaded ver 21.1.1 and followed instructions. So i did not run removal tool only downloaded ver 21.1.1

Did the ver 21.1.1 not uninstall prev ver and reinstall new 21.1.1

Ok got home from shops and liveupdate working and quick again? ??!!!!!??? Still dont know what was the reason for not working ? ???

Are you saying all is working fine now?  Hopefully!!

I have to question what you said in regards to "check new version" - I remember that did not work for you and Nikhill_CV said they had run into that and suggested a different method - did you use the different method?  The check new version would not have worked as you were on 21.1..0.18 at the time and it cannot detect minor version differences - you would have had to be on version 20.X.X.X for it to downlaod and install 21.1.1.7.  Regardless, I have a feeling what happened and withotu a long winded explanation of a side by side upgrade install, lets just say that the previous install is not removed until after a reboot (which the NRnRT and the "new version check" does automatically).  I'm thinking perhpas some fragment from the previous install was conflicting and lsowing things down and the reboot cleaned it out??  So over the past few days a reboot somewhere along the line may have done the trick.  Do you by chance shut down every night oro only reboot every once in-awhile?

 

Anyway keep us posted.

 

I shut down every night. I did follow alternative steps as per Nikhill_CV post to download ver 21.1.1. All is working. Will check tmorrow again. Thank you for the help
