It didnt work!

The automatic updates work fine when not plugged into my router. (after i end luall.exe and multiple processes of lucallbackproxy.exe)

When i try to update manually, when i'm hooked into my router, it says that live update is already running in the background.

That's because norton 360 has already tried to automatically update after i turn my computer on, but it is unable to update due to the connection being fuzzed by my router...

I guess what i'm asking is: Is there anyway that i can update through my router? Ending processes is ok, but id rather not have to unplug my connection from my router, plug my main dsl connection to the back of my comuter, restart my computer, update, then plug my main connection back into my router, and the router back into my computer every other day just to get updates that i payed for.

After chatting live with a symantec support representative they solved my problem!!!!

It seems that i had a DSL connection listed as my default connection, and that was the problem. The rep. asked if they could delete the connection. After deleting the (default)connection listed under the connections tab in the internet options, they ran live update and it worked! Thank you symantec!!!

As a matter of interest, do you actually have a DSL connection or was that a phantom?

i have dsl, but the reason that connection is there is that when i disconnected from my router a looong time ago and plugged directly back into my dsl box, my computer wouldnt immediately connect to it because it takes a few minutes for my computer to understand that the gateway has closed. So i tried to manually set up a dsl connection through the connection wizard...

lol i guess thats why my problem is unique.

my settings in internet options were configured to only connect if a network connection was not available, so my internet and all other connections worked fine. I don't understand how Norton connects to the internet, so i can't really infer why it wasnt unable to connect other than that Norton prefers default connections over network connections...

Thanks for the background.

Maybe Norton will have some comments .... or it may be just one of those things!

Like not having a default printer set ...
