Hi All!
I hope this is in the right place. I didn't see a forum for Live Update questions.
When I ran my Live Update this morning after booting up, I noticed the update was very large. For 4 updates the size was 130.2MB. My whole Norton program is only 86.2MB. It took almost 30 min. to d/l the 4 updates.
My question is, why such a large size for just 4 updates?
I have Norton 360 Version 5.1.0.29.
Thanks for any reply.
Thanks!
I had it happen twice a few months ago and didn't worry about it but when it happened again, I figured I would ask. When you say discrepancy, does that mean something is wrong or has corrupted my files in some way?
Thanks again!
Have a good day!
Occasionally LiveUpdate will find an error, corruption or something else not quite right that calls the integrity of the definition file into question. If there is any doubt at all about the file, LiveUpdate will do the prudent thing and replace it.
Okay, I'm full of questions. What is the 'definitions file'? Is it something that Norton has installed on my PC or is it something that I can find and maybe delete?
Thank you once again!
It is the cache of malware signatures that Norton uses to detect threats. It is constantly updated in order for the product to be able to recognize the latest threats. No, this is not something you should hunt for and delete..
Moved to own thread for better exposure.
