Live Update Question

I turn my 64 bit, Windows 10 computer off at night.  I am running latest version of NIS.  I have Live update and all associated items "ON" but when I boot up the computer in the morning, I am informed that virus scans or updates need to be done.  Nothing is done automatically.  I understand, obviously, that while the computer is off, that can't happen, but is Live update (auto update) supposed to check, then run automatically?  It used to work this way - issue only started happening in last major product update.  I uninstalled everything and reinstalled, but no help.  Is this process by design, or is there a way to set Live update to do its thing without my intervention?  Thanks.
