Live Update stuck on checking Product Updates

This morning auto LUD took a long while to complete (20 mins) instead of normal less than a minute. Tried a Manual and other LUD's downloaded OK but got stuck on the Product Update section. This has happened before a couple of times but not to this extent since Norton changed the downloading window which increased the number of listed progress items.

yes

HAHA missed that bit.

Thanks

That takes me to "Welcome to Support" which has 12 choices listed.

None of which were relevant to my problem.

So used Kate instead to contact a live agent.

When you get to the '12 choices', look for 'My issue isn't listed above'. That will get you further into the chat where you can describe your own issue.

OR - GUI - Help - Get Support - Open Support Website - Contact Us bottom left corner - Chat Now - select topic - enter yur query at bottom of form - Save should direct you to chat with agent.

In virtual assistant Kate,

just type in   "chat to a live agent"

Seems as though up & running OK first thing this morning UK. Well, at least until we get another repeat of of this issue, not the first time had this same issue

Product Updates is still down as of 10:28AM PST...

Didn't the LiveUpdate Service used to show in Norton Services Status webpage?

https://status.norton.com/

Unless that's what they're now referring to as Norton Update Center?

Which currently shows as all being A-OK , when it obviously isn't...

I had to uninstall Norton 360 last night so I could do an in-place reinstall of Windows 10 to fix their Windows Update. After I finally got done I reinstalled 360 and the first few updates ran as usual and then the slow Live Update issue started. It was late so I gave up and went to bed. Now this morning I wake up to see the same issue on another PC, so I came here and found I'm not alone.sad

Had this same issue a few months ago, obvious it was Norton's problem- always the same response from Norton to reinstall your product. Last time ignored that comment from support as evidently a problem at Norton's end. Second session with chat support confirmed Norton issue, came back after couple of hours. This time the promised for 2 hours this morning now 6 hours. Check this page for banner https://support.norton.com/sp/en/uk/home/current/contact?inid=community-nav_support

Same issue here. Server problem?

Nothing seems to work.

Haven't tried a reinstall yet but I'm afraid that won't bring any relief.

I'll wait for Norton team to take action. I'm convinced there's something wrong with Norton servers.

Just tried after computer off a few hours - situation now seems worse - Protection updates slow as well - although they return not required. Was going onto support again, the following banner at the top 'If you are experiencing a LiveUpdate failure error when running manual LiveUpdate, please try to run LiveUpdate again in 24 hours. Please be aware that your PC is still protected.'

Managed to get through eventually to Chat Support. Now on a Virtual Assistant, very limited selection of problems - eventually thru to Kate the Virtual Assistant - no matter what you type in as an issue always get 'I understand you wan't to change your email address' - no I don't. Did make it thru' to an agent, who, for a change, was very helpful and knew of the problem. Norton working on it at the moment & should be resolved in a couple of hours.

Rebooted, another manual same problem, had second Auto LUD run - whilst checking for Product Updates, very little disc activity - I cancelled process after 4 minutes as nothing appears to be actually happening - problem with Norton Servers again ?. First auto run in background of 21 minutes I assume finally completed but came up with no error.

Exactly the same situation with manual LU.

This morning auto LUD just seamed to hang on the checking for product updates for over 30mins never happened before has always been really good

could you advise please?

Thanks

UPDATE - Finally completed after 40mins....
