Are you using any other security tools? Do you get an error from Live Update? Did you have any old Norton products before? Where are you running Live Update from? NIS is fully automatic. No need to run Live Update since updates are pulse checked every 5-15 minutes.

Restart your computer. Check your NIS 2009  and run again the live update. It will automatic process the the updates.

symantec are aware there are problems with Norton LiveUpdate and are working on it.

What Updates Failed?  Please provide them in the order they showed in the Norton LiveUpdate Summary.

ok. It finds the updates, it downloads the updates and it processes them APART from Norton 2009 web protection definitions,  updates antiphishing to verify authentic web sites. Every time i update this is the only update that wont update.

Correct.

It won't be long

When will it be fixed? This is really bugging me now!

Relax and wait please. As red stated there is a fix in the works.

I had this issue some time ago.. solved it with a Symantec tech via live chat.

It seems that the stored Identity safe data gets in the way of this update.

So, the solution would be to backup your Identity safe data,  uninstall NIS completely (make it remove stored settings and data) then install it again, run the LiveUpdate, and then import the saved identity safe data.

Will still get the same Norton LiveUpdate Issues, so would advise to wait until symantec Release the Fix.

It's up to the topic starter to do what he wants and what he feels safe to do, whatever...

My NIS 2009 updates well since then. The only bad thing is that the Symantec tech didn't backup my Identity safe data, but I bear no grudge. I didn't have a lot of it then anyway. :smileyhappy:

Hi jimmyj32-

I sent you a private message (PM) concerning this issue.

Please look for the in the upper right hand corner of any community page to access your PM's.

Thanks,

Matt Powers

Symantec Corp.

Is there a quick fix for this liveupdate problem yet?

If there is a solution will someone let me know, thanks…

Hi Jimmyj,

I'm not sure if this little solution is able to help your PC (it helped my NIS) but here goes :

I turned off "check for server certificate revocation" in IE. To turn this option off, you go to : IE -> Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced -> Scroll down to Security and uncheck "check for server certificate revocation (requires restart)".

After you've unchecked it, reboot your PC and once connected to the Internet, click on "Run Liveupdate" in the NIS 2009 console.

It worked for me so i'm crossing my fingers that it's able to help your NIS too.

 Cheers !

The Fix has not been Released yet; I would suggest waiting for this because the Issues with occur sooner or later.

Jamok, that little solution did not work for me mate but thanks anyway.

For now just obtain the IntelligentUpdater updates once a week.

Did you have any previous Norton products installed? If so, you may want to uninstall LiveUpdate via the Control Panel.
