TYPO TYPO it is Norton internet security 2008. sorry about that.

I have Norton internet security 2008 install on a windows XP pro computer. my problem is live update does not work, it get as far as looking for available updates and stops there. I have tried each and every tip on Norton site with no success. I have added all the file in the live update folder to the firewall trusted list. I have also reinstall liveupdate and Norton as well... CAN'T GET IT TO WORK

(Corrected typo for clarification.)

I know the other day when I tried to manually update, it gave me a message that it failed to connect. But later worked fine.

it gives no errors. it just sticks on processing for hours. i can onlly update with the inteligent updater on the web.

I would suggest trying this first before doing anything else.

am not at that paticular pc at the moment. but its been doing that for 3 months now. the link suggested earlier i have used it with no success.

Hi Stressed,

have you tried running LiveUpdate manually using the command LUALL, if not than try it and get the error number and search on symantec website, it will defiantly give you some resolution.

Have you tried this?  No mention if you have/haven't in this Thread.

yes i have, i also tried from the site to lunch liveupdate where it opens an older version. it sticks at connecting to (the live update site- cant remember the path-) with no error message.

Hi Stressed,

Does it stops around a quarter of the way while connecting ? if yes then try this document.

thanks for all the comments. i got help through notron chat service. the problem was an old dial-up connection that had to be removed.

If you have 2009 installed please post in the beta section. v2009 is still beta
