Live updates do not happen...

Here is my boring story.  I have a new pc, and I transferred my Norton subscription from the old pc to the new - no problem.  Then I notice the virus definitions have not been updated in days - 90 at this point.  I run the live update (I have DSL, and have no problem with e-mails or internet connectivity), and let sit for hours.  It just keeps acting like it it is connecting to find the updates, runs for hours and hours, with nothing happening, no error message.  Finally I just cancel out.

 

I have been through the Norton on-line chat support a few times.  They try to connect to my pc to diagnose, with the same type of issue - their connection screen never connects...  I have uninstalled and reinstalled a few times, but still no virus updates.

 

The IT guy at work suggested it may be my windows settings, so I turned off the windows firewall settings, no protected mode - I basically turned off anything that I thought may be preventing a connection.  No changes in results.

 

This is maddening.  I am thinking there is some simple setting out there that I have unknowingly set on my pc that is preventing connection, but I have no idea at this point.

 

Any advice from the experts out there?
