The last two weeks my laptop had a problem with NIS2009 (Windows XP SP3 - NIS version 16.7). Every 6 minutes the CPU was 100% because of ccSvcHst.exe/SYSTEM. I removed Windows Defender with no result. I put out PulsUpdates, no result.
I removed NIS en run after restart the Norton Removal Tool.
After new restart a new installation of NIS2009. At first there was an overall update. The version os NIS stayed 16.0 and any further update was not possible. I downloaded the LiveUpdate programm. No result after installation. Again the message that I had the most recent version. Next day the same message, but 16 hours no update. There is no faultcode, only that it is the most recent version, there is no need to update.
After two days still no updates availabe/possible I removed and installed the program again. After installation no update available, not over overall update. Last update 383 days ago, but accoring NIS this is the most recent version. Again installation of LiveUpdate, but with no result.
What to do???? It looks if LiveUpdate cannot find the internet. The connection icon of Windows stays blank. The internal help-programma of NIS makes contact with the server of Symantec. But does not repair LiveUpdate. It only mention that there is no scan the last seven days. No big help.
