Since reinstalling vista on 11th July I have seen this box 11 times. It used to happen on previous install of vista which is the same version, so it is not something that I have done to my install. My 360 version is 2.3.1.4 and this is specific to this version of 360.
…and have you ever had the box before you installed Norton 360? Are you still having the problem?
The box appears the moment I install Norton and yes it still happens.
Well thats clear. I do not have the solution. I make the following proposals to you, and everyone else experiencing this problem.
1. Go to control panel, go to Symantec Live update,. On the general tab, note the error support level and advise here.
2.change the error support level to off, and see if the problem changes.
3. If 2. does not work, change the error support to enhanced.
4. search for log.liveupdate which for me, under XP, is in document & settings/all users/application data/symantec/liveupdate.
this file can be opened with notepad or wordpad.
5. Next time you have a COM module stopped working note the time, then clear the error and view the above file. Is there any activity recorded at the time of the fault?
6. Go to administrative tools, and check all event viewers. Again is there anything recorded at the time of the COM Module stopped working popup?
7. Next, I would look at anything related to liveupdate, that means looking at other threads. For a starter I see there is an unposted
workaround against a thread "Live update N360 v2 " as linked to below
It must be worth trying this. I do not myself know what the workaround is but as it must apply to liveupdate is surely is worth a look.
If I think of anything else I will advise.

I have just installed 360 on 3 of my computers, last week and 2 have Vista and 1 has XP - But I am having this issue on my HP Vista laptop. I have read all the posts but still not sure what to do… I get this message from time to time like every hour or so… I use citrixto attach to my work and I am using IE… Please lhelp me - or 360 is going out the window…this message is driving me crazy and plus I don’t think I am getting the Updates - right? Thanks.
The hourly thing could be because liveupdate actually runs every hour. Anyway, what would help is if you could post what operating system your HP laptop is using - i.e. not just Vista but the full title. Also assume you have loaded Norton 360 v1 on the laptop what is the version - i.e. main screen, help, about.

I'm also getting this error. It started just under a week ago. After many reinstalls and remote support sessions, I've worked out that its related to the Norton Add-On Pack. At least, it is for me. If I uninstall the AOP I no longer get the error. But if I reinstall it and download updates, after 5 minutes of booting up, my machine grinds to a halt, CPU load goes up to 100%, 90% of which is used by ccSvcHost.exe.
Does anyone have any ideas?
