LiveUpdate failing

I have just installed NIS2010 on my third PC. When I run live update it checks for updates ok, it downloads updates ok, but then fails to process updates. When I look at the summary I see several items failed to upload such as... Norton 2010 IPS Definitions (Failed to complete) Norton Product Update (Failed to complete) Norton 2010 Iron Whitelist (Failed to complete) Norton 2010 Antispam Definitions (Failed to complete) and the list goes on and on. It feels like it only gets to about 128kB of the 50MB of its updates, when it stops. Can anyone advise what could be going wrong please ? Thanks.

Hi Fixyou,

Welcome back to the forum and sorry that you are having issues.

What OS do you have on the PC with the issue and is it 32 or 64 bit? What other Norton/Symantec software do you have installed? What was your previous security software (anti-virus, etc)? Did you completely remove the old anti-virus software using the vendor's removal tool before installing NIS?

Thanks

Allen

Hi AllenM - I just discovered it was my weak wifi connection that must have been causing the download to time out ! LiveUpdate completed when I relocated the pc. Cheers.

Hi Fixyou,

Thank you for the update and marking the thread solved. I'm happy this is working for you now. :smileyhappy:

Best wishes.

Allen

Hi richard475,

Please try downloading the latest virus definitions for Mac based on the type of processor on your Mac Mini from the link below:

http://www.symantec.com/security_response/definitions/download/detail.jsp?gid=nmc

The attached installer will automatically update Norton AntiVirus for Mac virus definitions and engine files to detect and repair the most recently discovered Macintosh viruses. Once downloaded and expanded on your hard drive, simply double-click on the Installer and the appropriate files will be installed on your Mac.

Run LiveUpdate once again to check if the error persists, do report if the issue is fixed.

Thanks,

Lucky

A huge download, and carrying out the above has certainly bought the virus defininitions up to date, but LiveUpdate still sticks on 'Determining what's available'. Maybe this mac, and this software is simply getting too out of date?
