Hi

You can try running the Liveupdate in "Interactive Mode" (As in 2007 which you used to do) as described below.

Step 1 : Click Start --> Click run --> type "luall" without quotations

Step 2 : This will launch the Liveupdate window. Click "Next" button and procede from there

Please let me know if still any issues...

Liveupdate is "stuck" at installing Symantec Security Software (1 of 1) as seen in screenshot. The screen stayed at this phase for 15 minutes before I gave up. I restarted the computer.

Should Liveupdate take more than 15 minutes to update 1463.4KB of updates or has Liveupdate hang?

Thanks.

Hi

I suspect with your internet speed. Are you using Dialup by any chance? As you know the download rate of Liveupdate depends on your internet speed, may be it's hanging after 15 min.

You can try downloading the "Intelligent Updater" which is also a package of Liveupdate. Download this package and Run it by double clicking on it. Here is the link. http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/download/pages/US-N95.html

If you are unable to download the Intelligent Updater also, there may be problems with the internet connection. Check with your ISP to confirm and rectify that. If else, you can try uninstalling and re-installing the norton product (provided if you have either CD or a download version)

Thanks

I'm sorry i saw your comments that you are using Dialup connection. Since liveupdate is a huge file, may be it's hanging. Please contact your ISP asking him to resolve the download speed issue.

Hi srini

Yes, I am on a 50K dial-up. I downloaded the Intelligent Updater from the link you listed.

I then ran 20080625-003-v5i32.exe by double clicking on it. The program ran successfully.

Is that all I need to do? If it is then I think this issue has been solved (you can mark the thread solved).

Thanks a lot for the help!

Yes. Your product got the updates now. You can try running the liveupdate after couple of days. I would also recommend you to enable the "Automatic Liveupdate" feature from the settings.

Thanks
