LiveUpdate - Norton SDS Definitions X64 Failed to Complete

Good Afternoon,

I have Norton Security installed and have run live update and have had a message saying Failed to Install. I have followed the on screen instructions i.e run auto correct - ran live update again. Still got the failed to install message. I removed and reinstalled Norton and restarted again ran live update and again the same message and the same update. I ran live update a bit later and had two updates one installed and the other didnt.

The one that didnt install was a Norton SDS definition x65. All other live updates are going in correctly downloading and installing correctly as far as I can see as there is a green tick by the other updates but not this Morton SDS definitions x 64 update.

Any suggestions please?

[Admin Edit: Clarified subject]

Looks to be taken care of as my Norton SDS Definitions X64 (47.66MB) loaded successfully at 4:17pm when I manually ran LIVE UPDATE.

Yup, just updated again and all works, think it had to do with windows update also installed today.

Fixed!

My understanding is that NortonLifeLock is aware that users are seeing LiveUpdate Error 8920,208.
"We are working on it".
Thanks.

Same for me too, did a clean install, issue remains

Norton support says that there is a problem with their services at the moment, so just wait max 24 hours and this should resolve itself.

"LiveUpdate - Norton SDS Definitions X64 Failed to Complete"

Happening here too... Downloaded and applied the current Norton Definitions for Windows "20210203-003-core3sdsg2v5i64" from:

https://www.broadcom.com/support/security-center/definitions/download/detail?gid=n95

as a temporary work around for the failure.

Note: The Definitions Installer claims a successful operation but the success/fail status is not being logged into the Norton History log. Note too that in past versions of Definition Installers they did log these operational results...

Cheers!

Also being reported in this Norton 360 thread:

Apparently Norton are aware of the issue and working on it.

Same problem here. Tried several times included with a new boot-up. Clicking “View Summary” after getting “Failed to Complete” consistently indicates Norton SDS Definition X64 update has not installed. Once another update was successful but not Norton SDS Definitiion X64. Clicking “Get Support” on the View Summary doesn’t appear to do anything.

Norton–please fix this.

Thanks.

Same here. One of two updates failed to complete (SDS Definitions x64).
This was once installed as NIS but I'm honestly not sure what the product actually is called anymore (Norton Internet Security? Norton Security? 360? LifeLock?) but the "About" says that it is version 22.20.5.39 anyway. Installed on Win 10 Pro (v 2004).

Just did another live update as I had a red cross and message saying that my virus/spyware defs are not up to date so did anothe live update 2 updates one went in no probs one did not, again thios Norton SDS Definition x64 update has not installed.

This is why im thinking it has to be this particular update not Norton Live itself. Does anyone know what this is or what is in it that is making it not install?

I am facing the same situation this morning.  All was fine as of last night.  I have not though done my install of January 2021 Windows Updates on my PC just yet.  Planning to later this week.

Exactly the same issue here as well.

It occurred after a Windows update but that could be a coincidence.
