LiveUpdate not working

NIS LiveUpdate has stopped working. I have checked all the settings OK and have the latest version. I can manually download the latest definitions and install them OK but I see it is now showing last update was 3 days ago which was when I did the manual update.

I have a fairly slow internet connection so maybe this has something to do with it.

Does anybody know how Live Update works. Does it just work in the background at random times or on startup and can the update resume if interrupted.

At the moment I am at a loss as in spite of my settings NIS does not appear to be doing anything to run LiveUpdate and if I click on "Run LiveUpdate" I get a screen which says  LiveUpdate finished with an unknown error. And the three items below each have "Not Required" next to them, that is Check for updates, Download updates and Process updates.

Ran AutoFix as suggested and got unknown error which could only be fixed by using NRnR tool which also deleted Norton Ghost which was more work unfortunately. Took an hour to reinstall NIS but it seems to be back in service.

I start LiveUpdate.  It begins the "Check for updates" stage, but neither proceeds beyond it nor gives me an error message (or indeed any message).  It just sits there indefinitely, until I finally give up and hit Cancel... at which point it sits on "LiveUpdate is canceling the update..." indefinitely and never actually goes away and finally I have to force-quit the whole thing.

Sounds like your install isn't working quite like it was designed. The easiest fix would be to click on support -> get support and see if that does the trick. If that fails then then next step is the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool.

Be sure to run live update until you have all of the updates downloaded and installed.

If that fails, please post back and we'll see which bigger hammer to suggest to beat it into shape :smileywink:

Oh, good, that worked.  (The RnR tool, that is.  I had already tried Get Support, actually.)  Thanks very much.
