Do you mean Automatically? If so, go to Start > Control Panel > Symantec LiveUpdate > Automatic Update. There you can Set it to Run Every Two Hours, which I would suggest you Set it for. Make sure it is On as well as A.U. in your Norton Product.
If you mean Manually: Either go to Start > Run > Luall or Run it from the Norton Product.
Yup, I meant automatically, thanks!
However, looking at LiveUpdate, maybe my question isn't related to timing: LiveUpdate is set to Interactive Mode, rather than Express Mode. Per the descriptions, it looks like what I want is Express mode?
Why would the default be interactive? Seems like only a minority of users would want to manually control this, doesn't it?
If you want Critical-only Updates to be Installed Select Inerative Mode (you can Control which Updates to be Installed via N.I.S. Option - e.g. if “Virus Definitons” (“V.D.”) (Anti-Virus) is On, then LiveUpdate will Automatically Download Updates, whereas Updates for Protection for Norton Products P.f.N.P.) would not be Installed Automatically); if you want every single Update to be Installed, which means “V.D.” and P.f.N.P. would be Installed no metter if they were Critical or not.
CountryGuy, you've already discussed a lot of this issue but I wantted to also point out that updates requiring a reboot will never come down and apply automatically. There should've been a notification, though, telling you that updates were available.
We don't automatically apply the updates that require a reboot afterward because there's no telling what you may be doing on the system at that time and rebooting the system out from underneith your critical, say, heart surgery application wouldn't be a very good idea.
LOL, thank you Reese -- That example definitely clears it up, of course now if I ever need heart surgery I'll be looking into AV version as well as Dr. credentials...
I didn't get a notification though; Could this be another issue related to running 64 bit Vista (similar to the current context-menu scan issue)?
Right now, the only change I've made is to go from Interactive (which was set by default at install) to Express.
So short of manually running LUALL, is there a way to batch this? I’ve tried putting LUALL into Vista’s Task Scheduler, and it fails miserably (on both of my machines).
