The daily updating suddenly began a couple of weeks ago and I had not changed any settings. But I just looked at one of the systems and the “Notify me when updates are available” box is checked. I will look at the other systems when they are available. I bet they have the same situation. Now I need to find out who’s been messing with the settings…

If you've reconfigured LiveUpdate to not automatically install updates, then these are reasonable. Virus definitions as well as other updates are released multiple times per day.
Just to add to the Virus Definitons comment: It is only 2008 Products that have more than one V.D.s Update; there are at least two V.D.s Update every day.
I would add that, if you have Automatic LiveUpdate on, then I would suggest you to make A. L.U. Run every few hours on all systems and set to Express Mode so that it Installs all Updates, although it will ask you if you would like to Install an Update that Requires a Re-start even if you have A. L.U. on Express Mode.
We have three systems on one LAN. All have NIS 2007 or 2008 installed and setup to run automatic liveupdates. Every morning all three systems popup the little window in the lower right corner saying updates are available. We always go ahead and run liveupdate and every morning there are new updates. They are not always the same updates. We monitor the liveupdate process and it appears that all available updates are downloaded and properly installed. We get completion messages and no error messages. The next day it happens again.
So are these all legitimate updates? (We have two computers on a totally separate LAN in a different location entirely and they do not prompt us to download updates every morning.)
