Logins & cards

I recently noticed that my login and card icon has disappeared from my toolbar. Does anyone know how to restore this feature? I am uncertain when it disappeared and have no idea what may have happened to cause it to be removed.

Hi clmseeker,

Welcome to the Norton Community. Can you tell us which Norton product you have and the version from Support > About or Help > About? Also what OS and SP do you have and is it 32 or 64 bit? What browser and version are you using and is the browser 32 or 64 bit? Note that Norton supports 32 bit browsers only.

If you are using IE, please check that the following add-ins are listed and enabled.

Norton Toolbar

Symantec Intrustion Prevention

Symantec NCO BHO

You can find these in IE Tools > Manage Add-ons and then scroll down to the Symantec section.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.

Allen

Allen,

Thank you for getting back with me. I believe that I have Norton 360 and I purchased it at the end of last year - 2009. I am operating on this computer with Windows XP and my browser is 32 bit. It has been working since I downloaded the program and just suddenly stopped. I am certain it was something that I downloaded but just didn't catch it at the time. The only new item  have is a new external hard drive... I would not think that would have affected it, but that is the only change that I can think of.

I use Firefox/Mozilla, but my husband uses IE. The card icon was displaying on my browser... Mozilla. I checked the add ins before I posted my question and everything looks fine. I am certain it is user error and I am just missing something simple.

I appreciate your assistance. It is not earth shattering, just a minor annoyance. I would like to restore it if I can.

One quick question.

Does this happen on Firefox only or on IE also.

If so, please provide the version for Firefox.

Cheers!

Hello. I've been able to replicate the behavior you described in Internet Explorer 8. Can you open your Norton program and make sure identity safe is turned on and not switch off as in the screenshot below. The screenshot below shows identity safe switched off.  To turn it back on, click on the "red"  redicon.png icon.

Result of turning identity safe off:

I just checked IE and the icon is on the toolbar... so I guess it is just  a problem with my Firefox. I am uncertain what version of Firefox I am using but do recall that I did just update to a newer version. I didn't even think about that.

The screen shot is not displaying, but I was able to confirm that identify safe is on.  I did go to the Logins & cards option. I selected Logins and found Auto fill when I visit this page has a check mark.

I have just lost the option to click on the Card icon in the tool bar to fill in information on forms on webpages.

Just to recap. Identity safe in Firefox is not working while the one in Internet Explorer 8 is working just fine.

YOu can find the version number for Firefox in help-->about firefox.

Firefox version 3.6.11 (thank you for showing me that).

BTW... the screen shot just loaded. Yes, I have it turned on properly. The issue is only occuring in Firefox, IE is displaying cards option properly.

Hi clmseeker,

Is it only the Identity Safe icon that is missing, or is it the entire Norton toolbar?  If the toolbar is not there, right click the menu bar and make sure that Norton Toolbar is listed and has a checkmark next to it.  If necessary, click the entry to restore a missing checkmark and unhide the toolbar.

From what I can figure out from the information given by the OP, in IE the toolbar worked fine.  However, in Firefox, the identity safe icon is gone (but the toolbar is still there).

I just thought Id say...I have run same firefox vers and Ive had trouble too, it comes and goes and is only in firefox.

Currently Im fine but just so they know its not isolated entirely to this poster.

I run xp sp3 nis 2011.  (I dont know how I fix it, it just comes back when it wants too and often it will be there but wont act correctly on use.) Not requesting help just putting out there they arent alone.

Back to orig' post :)

The Norton toolbar is not displaying in Firefox. I have tried to right click in the menu bar and it is not listed as an option to select.

Hi clmseeker,

Thank you for clarifying the issue.  Firefox uses three files to manage the installed extensions and they can become corrupted, which can cause problems like this.  If such corruption is the cause of the issue the following solution posted in the Mozilla Knowledge Base will very often resolve the problem .  Please try the procedure for fixing corrupt extension files given here:

http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/unable+to+install+add-ons#Corrupt_extension_files

Thank you!!! My problem is resolved; Norton toolbar is back. I really appreciate your assistance. Have a terrific day!!

Clmseeker

You're welcome.  I'm glad the operation was a success.
