I got a new router and now overnight I lose my internet connection. In the morning I have to turn my computer off and then back on and I’m connected again. Any ideas why this is happening? I was fine under my other router.
@Patricia_Welsh What Windows version and build do you have? And do you allow your computer to sleep or hibernate at night? Are there any entries in Norton history with any information about what is happening?

What brand and model of router did you get?
Edison: Windows 11 Home
Version: 25H2
OS Build: 26200.6899
Experience: Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.253.0
I have it sleep (which I haven’t changed from the old router)
Router: NightHawk AX6 WiFi Cable Modem Router
As to the Norton History I’m not sure what to look for.
Please log into your new router user interface. Check for “Netgear Armour” being enabled. If enabled please disable, reboot your router and recheck.
Edited: Also make sure your new router has the latest firmware installed.

Conversely, when allowing a computer to sleep your internet connection may disconnect by default and may require reconnection before being able to use it again. Normally that is a reboot of the device. Windows controls that issue, not Norton. Hope that helps a bit, please post your results for us to follow-up.

Netgear Armour is not enabled. I just rebooted the router. I guess I will have to wait until tomorrow to see if the rebooting works.
I never changed any of the setting for Sleep and it worked before the new router.
Thanks. I cannot see how a different router would cause connections to drop. Never had that happen my side before either. I also noted that your Windows 11 install is missing the November 2025 updates that were just released overnight. Please install them to get your install current.
You can open your Norton history following this: ** Look for entries during the overnight hours around the time you put your device to sleep. The disconnect should be happening at that specific time since the computer was not actively running. Please post a screenshot of what you may see for review. TIA.

Also, please run Live Updates on Norton and get the latest release Norton 360 Deluxe: 25.11.10580 (build 25.11.10580.0), with UI version 1.0.111 . Lets see whether that makes any difference.

I’ve updated to the latest release and did a restart. I’m now up-to-date. I really can’t see in the history where it may be disconneting. But again this morning I had to restart the computer to get internet connection. Before I did the restart (and before I updated) I tried to connect manually. That didn’t work either - had to do a restart. I did notice in the history that the Netgear 5G is private and the 2.4 is public. Would that cause a conflict which would cause this problem?
Again, my belief is Windows is the issue. Your issue is discussed in this Microsoft help forums below, although, not much help. There are some tips there that may help.
How long has it been since you installed 25H2 and was it before or after getting the new router? If after the Windows update to 25H2 is the most likely issue.

Also, if you aren’t tech savy ask someone to assist with reviewing the Windows Events Viewer. Tons of good information will be there regarding hardware disconnect events that may help us resolve your issue. The below discussion is about a Lenovo device but the way to find the information being looked for is the same.

I will give the Window info a look. Hopefully it will help with this problem. I tech savvy enough to be dangerous. ![]()
Sorry to so long in getting back with you. I’m not sure what has happened but my internet connection has survived through the last few nights. When I wake up my computer I’m still connected. Thank You for your help.
Awesome news indeed, thanks for the post back. Give it a few days and please let us know how this is going for you. Glad we could help in some way.
