Lost all my Crypto I mined Again

When I called Norton I was told to reinstall Norton 360, then I was told to update drivers, then I was told I needed to make a new account and was told I would not lose my crypto because it was stored on the cloud well not true I lost .003 of crypto. Now I started all over again and was doing fine for the last day and mined .0027 was looking forward to being paid out by the end of the day and now my Hash rate still changing and GPU still mining but all my crypto started back to zero and nothing in wallet.

Why is it when Ethereum starts to go up there's problems and I lose my Ethereum?  Also the 4 times I have called the crypto number the message says you are closed then another message comes on and says everyone is busy at this time and to leave a name and number and someone will get back to me in 24 hours but no one has called it's been two weeks. I have complained on here and no response also complained on your surveys you keep sending but nothing is being addressed.

This thread is a mixed bag of problems, but I think most of them (as far as hardware goes) boil down to GPU Idle time.  Let me explain.

I have seen a lot of people being told to "reinstall Norton 360".  STOP DOING THIS!  You need to understand that when you are talking about Customer Support, you are NOT talking to a person with a great degree of computer knowledge.  You are talking to a person who is essentially a trained monkey, that has been trained to follow onscreen instructions but has very little computer technical knowledge and understanding. I am not trying to insult them or be offensive, this is just the truth.  They are low-wage workers that are taught to follow a computer program that has steps to diagnose problems.  They themselves do not know anything about what they are doing. Norton cannot afford to pay real computer technicians to offer you support. Even if you escalate to the next level of support, you are still not getting a computer technician, you are just getting a CS rep that has been doing this longer and has a little more experience.  These are good people just trying to make a living, but it does not make them computer technicians.  So when they tell you to reinstall Norton 360, it is not because they know that it is the problem.  It is because that is what the computer program is telling them to tell you to do because that is a basic step in troubleshooting.  Okay. In 99% of the cases, your installation of Norton 360 is NOT the problem.

Just because you are not actively using your computer, does not mean your system is idle.  Windows has dozens of programs running in the background all the time.  Some actually use the GPU.  One in particular that I have found that keeps Norton Crypto from running is called "Nvidia Container".  This program can use up to 30% of the GPU when the system is idle. So, if Crypto will not start mining, here is what you do.

1. Restart your computer.

2. Open Norton Crypto, press the pause button and turn the Miner off.

3. Press the CTRL, ALT, DELETE at the same time on your keyboard and click on Task Manger from the dialog.  You can also do this by typing TASKMAN in the windows search box.  This will bring up the Task Manager.

4. Expand the Task Manager window and look for the column named GPU and then click on it to sort the column Descending (arrow pointing down) so that it shows which processes are using the GPU.

5. Click on any processes that are using the GPU and click the  END TASK button until no processes are using the GPU. (Except for Norton Crypto.  Leave that running).

6. Look in your System Tray at the bottom right-hand corner of your windows screen on the Windows Start bar.  See if you have any unnecessary, non-system programs running such as Dropbox, Steam, etc.  Right-click on these and turn them all off.

7. Go back to Norton Crypto and click on START MINER and it should start mining within a minute or so.

As far as earning calculations goes, this is a serious problem that only Norton can fix and it has absolutely ZERO to do with your computer or your 360 installations.  CS reps that tell you it is, have no idea what they are talking about, and are just using the standard "Blame the Customer" approach to customers service because Norton does not want to admit there is a problem that they need to fix.  This is not unique to Norton. All companies use the "Blame the customer" approach to customer support these days because fixing problems requires people with real degrees and technical software engineering knowledge, and it is very expensive.  It is much easier and cheaper to just keep blaming the customer and hope they are not smart enough to know that it is not their fault.

Tiinygecko, ok so we may have a bit of a lag before the update to the new name, if it's just displaying the wrong name but the rest is working thats good

To Matt Boucher: Yes, I changed graphics cards since originally installing the Crypto mining app, as I already stated in my previous post.

Hey Matt, I sent you an e-mail yesterday but no reply. I wrote all the latest problems.

My card is the only graphics card I have ever used a GEFORCE RTX 2080 8GB my card is running and mining but my unpaid balance is not changing. Last night at 10:30 PM before bed, as I always do i write down my unpaid balance to see how much progress i make overnight. I wrote down my unpaid balance and it was 0.004175680631 this morning at 9:30 AM it showed 0.004175680631and again not getting paid. This may seem like a coincidence but I have said it before and i will say it again, here we have Ethereum going up in price and these problems happens every time.

Displaying the "old" graphics card? Did you switch graphics card?

Status:

Re-installed Norton 360...boy is *that* a pain. Crypto mining app now fixed :).

Website displaying old graphics card: Not fixed. Request low-priority solution.

My mining app shows amount mined @ .000280 and hasn't changed for the last twelve hours. Logged into the webpage and THAT shows my pending payout @ .000364...so mine also doesn't match. I will try restarting my pc and see if that fixes the app. Suspect website amount is correct.

Edit: Lol restarted PC and now the crypto mining app shows *zero* crypto mined. Website *still* shows the correct amount. In fact, its gone up in the last ten minutes. I may have to re-install Norton 360, however.

There *is* a problem with the website, however, as well...the website lists my old graphics card instead of the new one I put in a few days ago. Is there a way to update it to show my current GPU?

I started my computer back up not long ago, its mining and Wallet matches the app!

Since last night at about 9 pm there has been no balance increases, I watched it for about 10 minutes and no mining happened with my GPU.  I assumed there may be a fix happening so mining at the server was stopped. Same status this morning.  Hopefully will be back going again, I'm finally over .003 and it seemed faster until the stoppage.  I need to shutdown for the day so will check again this eve.

For Ibbs, I have Win 10 Pro; never saw that before.  I see it says Settings but was it in Windows Security?

Nope, just Norton.  Must be something with Windows 10.

For that error message, do you have another Anti-Virus software running? We don't recommend having more than 1 running.

Not sure if this is part of the problem but found the following WIndows notification when this was happening to me:

Ok, i was just informed that "pending balance" on the portal is actually showing the "wallet balance", which for me wasn't 0, so I didn't look at it closely enough.

The team is looking into the fix ASAP.

Same issue here. Probably from yesterday. App correctly show unpaid mining balance (0,001230 ETH) but website shows pending payout 0 ETH.

Pending payout not matching doesn't make sense. Both values are retrieved from the same place using the same function.

It's perhaps cached in your browser? I just checked and there are no "fixes/issues" happening on our backend systems. Can you try a restart and see if it still shows pending as 0? If it does please send me a private message and I can have someone look into it more closely.

The last 15 min or so the app is now cycling between Active & restarting; fixing things in progress perhaps?

I just took the attached screen shots. The app shows a balance and is increasing, 0 in the cloud wallet.  Been like this all morning.  Hope the cyrpto is not lost like the guy above mentioned. Thanks

when you go to the wallet in the cloud, what does "pending payout" show?

I have similar issue that just started today.  On my computer the miner seems to be work, I saw it jump from .002884 to .002885, HR just under 22; about normal for my 1 GPU. Problem is, when I click on my wallet in the cloud it shows ZERO!  Now with this and the continued times of dead mining time (mining with ZERO increase), questioning my use of this with the cost on my system and power.  This weekend I'll reinstall the Norton SW, I need to renew license anyway. Hope its not all for naught!

System is AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor 3.60 GHz, RTX 3060 (normally uses 5 of 12 GB memory, Utilization spikes from 0 to 45% mostly about every few seconds), Win 10 Pro, 48 GB RAM.

Still increasing on my computer 0.002889, but 0 in cloud wallet as of 0740.
