ive went to resize D drive, dragged the right hand side of the bar, and the whole drive has moved ovr leaving the unallocated space in front. so rather than doing it in 2 steps, its now moving it in between.

 

its on about 40% now, will restart pc when done, check D drive etc, then reboot and resize C drive in the final step.

Thats done it, its all working now. C Drive is at a healthy 44% capacity.

Sorry, I forgot about that.  What you did is called a "slide", thats when you slide the partition one way or the other and it keeps the same size.
