Major Backup Issues for Norton Online Backup

I hope you can help......

Since I do not know where to begin, I will just list the issues......

1.)  "Norton Online Backup" does not recognize my computer once I sign out of my account or go offline.  When I sign back into my account it says "Computer Not Online" when in fact it is.  This is the only computer I have.  I use a wireless connection which seems to change my IP address whenever I go offline and  go back on, or I sign out and sign back in so requiring a computer listing will never work for me.  I have the same problem with Facebook except Facebook allows me to use other computers with notification to do my work on Facebook and gives me all account-owner control.  Apparently, "Norton Online Backup" will only acknowledge the original IP address or whatever info it uses to identify a computer even though the computer description remains the same.  I can access my Norton account and "Norton Online Backup" and make some changes, but I do not have the complete control of my "Norton Online Backup" that the owner of this account should have.  If I can sign into my account, I should have the owner's permissions over my "Norton Online Backup."

2.)  My operating system is totally encrypted with "True Crypt" and very little data is kept outside of this encrypted container.  I do not have another drive on this computer with an unencrypted operating system or files on it.  This encryption software will stay in place.

2.)  "Norton Internet Security" does not have "Norton Online Backup" as a program to give permissions to.  I am receiving the code "A2816".  I do not know what to add to Norton Internet Security's firewall to prevent this error as "Norton Online Backup" is not listed in Programs or what network settings I should be changing to allow "Norton Online Backup" to work.

4.)  I cannot and have never been able to "Add Sources" whether my computer is indicated online or offline and I have only been able to add one (1) folder to "Add Additional Files and Folders".  I can add "Advanced Rules" and "Extensions".

5.)  I cannot delete logs.  Also, when I right-click the system tray icon it says "Backup Failed.  See log for details.  I look at the log online and all I see is backup failed.

6.)  I have installed and reinstalled "Norton Online Backup", but cannot access the original "Norton Online Backup" because of "Norton Online Backup" not recognizing my computer.  The account you will see is the second (2nd) install.  When I reinstalled "Norton Online Backup" I was able to complete a file scan, a partial backup, add advanced rules, add extensions.  After the failed partial backup when I unchecked some "categories" and added "advanced rules", the calculating space stayed on 0\0 and did nothing else.

6.)  "Backup Now" is grayed out on right-click in system tray even after I change my backup to "manual only".  How can I discontinue a backup that was in progress, but did not complete.  Apparently I cannot run another backup while the original backup is still pending as indicated my the amount of storage I am using at this time, but can't access.

7.)  Files scanned remains at "0" when I recalculate, runs all night.  The "Calculating Space...." completed one time but the back up did not finish as indicated by the amount of storage I am using and by the code "A2816".  I do not know what security settings I should change insofar to permit "Norton Online Backup" to work.

8.)  Even though "Norton Online Backup" indicated backup failure, apparently files are backed up with the usage space used as "2.86 gigs".  Since there are files backup, I should be able to access them whether the complete backup finished or not.  I can't see them, I can't purge them, I can't do anything with them.  So apparently I have personal files on Norton's Online Backup's servers, but I have no access to them.

..........If your suggestion to solve these issues is to purchase your business-grade software, please give me information on which software I should use and how to convert my existing licenses for "Norton Internet Security" and "Norton Online Backup" and not have to pay full price for the business grade software from Norton especially since I just purchased "NIS" approximately 2 months ago and just purchased "Norton Online Backup" without getting one successfully completed backup.

......In my previous post, I forgot to mention how I got my computer back online.

1.)  The first time I did a reinstall, I uninstalled the app first and then did a reinstall.  Apparently this was wrong as I now cannot access the files that were partially uploaded but never could access.

2.)  I found out that you have to sign into your account, add a new computer, download the file, and reinstall over the initial install to get  your computer back online.

3.)  I have actually had to do this a couple of times.  I think using a wireless connection somehow is the cause of this.  The over-the-top install works and you are back online with the same upload account.

......Just so you know, the only reason I am posting what I have done is that no one has responded to my initial post and the issues I had.  I had to figure it out myself doing a lot of research and reading.  I am trying to put it all in one place in every day language so all of the suggestions are not so confusing.  Apparently, to completely purge my storage, I have to email a Symantec employee to have that completed.   See http://community.norton.com/t5/Other-Norton-Products/Norton-Online-Backup-Unable-to-Purge-Files/m-p/354862#M29780.  I hope my posts are helping someone.

P.S.:  I tried a manual backup and it worked.

......Thank you Symantec for being so timely in purging my Norton Online Backup account.  I still see 109 mb in storage.  I am assuming it has to do with the file tree and the one file of 3.71 kb file that was uploaded.  This installation of Norton Online Backup has been a struggle which I am glad has come to an end.

......One of the things I keep forgetting is that sometimes newly installed software needs time to mesh with the system before I start playing around with settings.

......Norton is still my security software of choice even with the very combersome installation of Norton Online Backup.  I am sure the issues that so many of us have experienced will eventually be cleaned up.

......Thanks again...
