MAJOR BUG, Norton 360 AntiSpam not working with Outlook Express and multiple email accounts

I have already reported this bug/behavor to Norton and they didn't resolve it.

So, I have done further testing and proved that this is a repeatable bug if you follow this sequence.

I need NORTON to test this sequence, confirm, and provide a fix ASAP.

Major "BUG" in Norton 360 Spam function!

Windows XP Media Center Addition SP3

Using Outlook Express with two Outlook Express account.

Mine and Spouse.

1) Virgin install.

   Outlook Express is clean.

NO, Norton Anti spam directory, and Norton 360 removed from system.

2) Reboot, everything still checks OK.

3) Then Installed Norton 360, installation successful.

4) Open Outlook Express on my account.

5) Successfully opens and a popup titled "Norton AntiSpam" comes up with the  message, "Welcome to Norton AntiSpam, "Improve detection, Norton AntiSpam had finished configuring Outlook Express". Outlook Express will now be restarted.

There is also the option of "Don't show it again" which is already check marked.

I left it that way, and clicked on "Close".

6) NOTE FIRST MISBEHAVIOR: This did closed Outlook Express as expected, but it did NOT reopen it as the message said.

7) I reopened it manually and at this point Norton 360 had successfully created the Norton AntiSpam Folder, and when I right clicking on it, it showed the correct menu options such as "Empty 'Norton AntiSpam Folder'".

8) I then clicked on "File, Switch Identity", and switched to my wife's email account.

9) When I did another popup was generated that said "Improve detection, Norton AntiSpam had finished configuring Outlook Express".    Outlook Express will now be restarted.

10) At this point it worked correctly, it closed and restarted Outlook Express on my wife’s account and when I right click on the “Norton AntiSpam Folder” it shows all the correct menu items including "Empty 'Norton AntiSpam Folder'"

11) So at this point, it looks like both my Outlook Express account and my wife’s account have been set up correctly.

12) Next are the steps that are the beginning to reproduce the “Norton 360/Outlook Express/Multiple user BUG”!!

Important notice: This sequence of events is repeatable!!!!!

13) I then switch back to my Outlook Express Account and get the following:

AGAIN the “Norton AntiSpam Improve Detection” window pops up, and I have to hit “Close”

This should NOT be happening at this point (because it already did this once before after logging into my account, and prior to switching to my wife’s account).

14) I then click on “close” and this time it actually does close Outlook Express and reopens it as it is supposed too, (Remember, it did not the first time when I logged into my account, prior to switching to my wife’s account”).

15) HOWEVER, after this second pop up occurred, from this point forward the Norton AntiSpam Folder, NO LONGER SHOWS THE CORRECT MENU WHEN YOU RIGHT CLICK ON IT. It no longer has the choice "Empty 'Norton AntiSpam Folder".

Remember that first time I checked it prior to switching to my wife’s account and then back again, it was working properly. At that point it showed a choice of "Empty 'Norton AntiSpam Folder'"!

However after switching to my wife’s account and then back again, it no longer shows this option!!!!

16) What this really means is that it has now changed the directory that Norton considers to be the “Norton AntiSpam Folder” to  different folder. That is why that option to empty it doesn’t show up anymore.

17) The next logical step is to determine which folder it does consider to be the AntiSpam folder, so I right clicked on every directory that I have to try and determine which directory is Norton now using as the AntiSpam folder.

IMPORTANT NOTE: First time it used my “Ebay” directory.

After repeating the uninstall, install, and switching between the two Outlook Express accounts, the next time it had changed it to my “Flutes” directory.

After repeating this sequence again, this time it used the “Bass Flutes” directory which is just under the “Flutes” directory.

After repeating this sequence one last time it is now using the “Checking in to” directory which is also just under the “Flutes” directory.

SUMMARY:

After removing and reinstalling Norton 360 it correctly creates and uses the Norton AntiSpam directory initially.

HOWEVER, as soon as I switch to my wife’s Outlook Express account using the “File Switch Identify” option, THEN switch back to my Outlook Express account while also using the “File Switch Identity” option, it will at that point pick a totally different personal directory within my account to use a the Norton AntiSpam directory!

It picks a different personal directory each time I pick repeat this sequence of performing a remove, reinstall, and then switching from my Outlook Express account to my wife's and then back again!

This is a serious bug in Norton 360 that needs to be fixed ASAP.

I’m not sure if it has anything to do with the number of personal directories I have or not.

It seem to always work correctly on my wife’s account (see has minimal directories).

However I have many multiple directories and this issue is repeatable every single time I have repeated this sequence.

Please HELP,

James
