Major Goof On My Part

I'm running Windows 7 on a new computer. I installed Norton Internet Security 2011 from the CD I purchased. After a few days, I began experiencing Internet Explorer freezing up. It got progressively worse and would require a hard boot to get back up and running. I decided to disable Norton. The problem seemed to stop. When I introduced Norton back, the problem returned.

So, in my infinite wisdom, or lack of it, I put my Norton CD back in the player and it looked like an "uninstall" was taking place. When that was completed, I removed the CD thinking Norton was uninstalled.

Not a good thing. Now I have many problems such as no IE, many programs not working or even showing up. It appears Norton may temporarily shift these files in to space somewhere and now they are locked up. When I try to run the Norton CD it does nothing.

I got on Norton Chat and they instructed me to get the Norton uninstaller tool which I did. But I had to get it with another computer and flash drive because I am unable to access the Internet now with what I have done to my new computer. I tried to copy and paste the uninstaller on my C drive but Windows doesn't see it.

Before I take my computer down to the shop and have them reformat the whole thing reinstall Windows, I thought I would embarrass myself and stop by here for any suggestions. Thanks in advance.
