It was also mentioned in a following post after the one I linked above, but I see that has been edited now.
It affected two of my machines and I quit MB on my third before it received the dodgy update. I had to quit MB 3 after receiving the new definition update, then restart MB again to get the protection working.
Not a good look for the new version that has already had a very rocky start.

Thanks for the heads up. I see there's a new thread started by Malwarebytes employee bdubrow pinned at the top of the forum titled Database update incident . According to that post a manual update and re-boot should solve the problem for affected MB v3.x users.
