Hi. I tried to download CPU-Z last night so I could check some RAM timings, anyway I think I may have downloaded a bogus file from a phishing/scam site. Of course the site was rated A o.k. by Norton and WOT but when I tried to run the program I got an error, to which no one has an answer. I checked the file insight and community ratings, less than 10 users, less than a week old.
A few things seemed wonky after that, my Norton Live Update ran every 30 sec, for about an hour. I noticed because I looked over at my pc and wondered why it hadnt entered sleep mode. My browser is noticeably slower and Im getting some strange popups.
Id like to download the free version of Malwarebytes and give it a quick scan. Ive found it to be pretty useful in snuffing out things like this but I just had a few questions. In the past when Ive made changes to the registry by using something like Ccleaner Norton was not a happy camper.
I know that Malwarebytes watches the registry as well and Im wondering what other conflicts, if any, might arise from using MB.
Finally what would be the recommended usage for running these programs simultaneoulsy in the same OS?
thanks
