Massive breach leaks 26 billion records from new and previous breaches

I got an email on 1/24/24 from norton@secure.norton.com which stated:

“Massive breach leaks 26 billion records from new and previous breaches.”

Is this legit? I searched and can’t find anything. If so, breach from where??

Wren:

How did you find all that?

Google:
Massive breach leaks 26 billion records from new and previous breaches

Since there are "only" 8 billion people in the world I guess everybody here is probably on the list.

But actually many of these records and those from previous breaches are inconsequential in nature. But the other few billion...

I did check the email address the email came from, but I was dismayed that there was no further info in the email. Coming here, I don’t understand why Norton doesn’t have a very easy to find link to the information you provided.

Thank you! I guess this means passwords get changed to just about every site I’ve ever visited. sad
