MBAM not updating

Has anyone noticed MBAM not updating today?

I have three machines with MBAM installed.  Two with Norton installed have the Premium version but does not start with Windows and the third machine has the free version installed along with Windows Defender.

The machine with the free version updated fine last night my time but the two others were last used last Sunday and will not update the definitions any newer.

When I try to ping data-cdn.mbamupdates.com I get between 25% and 100% packet loss so I'm guessing it is server related, or very strange that it is affecting three machines.

Thanks.

Hi F 4 E,

I edited my post above.  All machines are up to date now.

Cheers!

All machines are current again now.

Hi, @Krusty13

I was able to update MBAM from within the program.

It seemed to hang for a while searching but once found, update installed quickly. V2016.09.12.01

I'm on the NBN and with iiNet, so possibly area/server issues ?

Hugh,

I can access https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/ but when I click to download MBAM it times out.  I can't download MBAM or update its definitions.

I see also that when you click on the Free Download button to actually get it, the Status Bar of IE11 says it's going to:

https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/thankyou/

but when you click on the Windows query about what you want to do it says it is going to download from that cdn site so it could also be a question of redirecting that is triggering a block either in a browser or in some security/antimalware software or similar at your ISP?

Not Norton since I and others can get it.

But since Is it Me flags it as down for me but I can get the downloads via MBM doesn't it sound more like that MBM is blocking what it regards as robots since the approach is not via their normal web page or their utility UI.

I don't know the answer but I can see some of the questions ......

Hugh,

I can access https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/ but when I click to download MBAM it times out.  I can't download MBAM or update its definitions.

There has been a discussion elsewhere and it may be related to my ISP.  Another Aussie with the same ISP is also having the same problem.

I think the problem you are experiencing so far as the Is it Me? is explained here.

I took the URL it was trying to access

http://data-cdn.mbamupdates.com

and put it into the address box of my browser IE11 and got this message:

capture_09112016_124443.jpgNote the more information:

able to connect to the website but it does not have permission to view the webpage

so I think Is it Me has hit the security barrier and not a website barrier.

That would explain why we may get the same report from Is it Me as you do but can still download the updates ..... and can access the MWB website.

??????

I just started my MWB Free and it stated it was 2016.08.04.11

I clicked on Update now and it ran and in under a minute was updated to 2016.09.11.06 ....

Tampa Bay area of FL -- BrightHouse -- Windows 7

Are you sure it's Malwarebytes?

I just asked your Is it just me site to test https://www.malwarebytes.com/ and it told me it was down.

I dropped the same URL into my IE browser and the MWB site opened OK.

Is it just me puts http/https in front of the URL ????

It has to be an area related problem because I just manually updated it again and now it shows Database version 2016.09.11.05. Maybe it will be fixed when the MBAM USA headquarters wake up......

No, still not updating here, and this site also says data-cdn.mbamupdates.com is down.

http://currentlydown.com/data-cdn.mbamupdates.com

I manually updated MBAM (Premium version with real time functions disabled) a few minutes ago and it did it correctly - now showing Database version 2016.09.11.04.

Maybe the problem has been fixed since you noticed it or my area was not affected?

Thanks Dick.  That's what I think too.

I have the paid version on this machine along with the current NS and just did a manual update of MBAM

[maybe a temporary problem with mirrors?]
