Hi PC_confused

Sorry to read about your MBAM problems

Any posts at the MBAM forum offer a plausible solution?

I just had a update I had to reboot and I tryed  to updatembam and it worked!!!!

It seems norton has been working on this problem and found a fix.

bjm_  The Malwarebytes' forum did offer several fixes, to the update problem.  Most of them I don't think I am knowledgeable enough to try.  I'll wait for the easy click and update fix.

nmac,  after I received the update to 17.6.0.32, and had to do a reboot, I could then also run the Malwarebytes' update program.  The next day, after I started up my PC, I am again getting the error updating message..  I also thought either Norton's or Malwarebytes' found and fixed the problem.  Guess not.  Have you rebooted since the Malwarebytes' update program began working agaIn?

Ahhh I  guess that I also spoke to soon.  It was nice while it lasted.

nmac, after a restart, you can't update again?

Hi PC_confused,

I appreciate your reluctance to manipulate NIS as per mbam suggestions.  What ever it is...guess, I've just been lucky.   I presume you have run the stand alone mbam cleaner tool and pulled a fresh mbam from filehippo.   At least that's what I would have done.  Just in passing-- I reset my NIS Firewall twice a month. I presume you have reset your Firewall.  Not that it will help...just that it can't hurt.  Makes no sense..1.44 was OK and 1.45 just will not play with your toys.  mbam may run through IE...any chance recent IE updates skewed something?  Just read on the Secunia forum about a PSI user that just could not get PSI to run.  Turns out the user had IE offline.  Just thinking out loud :smileywink:

mbam must be working on a fix....hope so!

Sorry I was no help

joen reported in an earlier post:

XP Pro, NIS 2010 7.5.0.127
Vista Ultimate, NIS 2010 7.6.0.32
Win 7 Pro, NIS 2010 7.5.0.127

I have free MalwareBytes 1.45 on all three with no problems.

& my Vista HmPrem w 17.5.0.127 and now 17.6.0.32 plays with mbam 1.45

bjm_, Thanks for the suggestion solutions. I went to the Malwarebytes’ forum and read through the pages. Looks like there were quite a few recommended solutions, some looked easy but others were more involved, at least more than I felt comfortable doing. I basically only used the Malwarebytes’ uninstall program and the Windows Add/Remove program. I haven’t tried the mbam cleaner tool. A lot of the other posters tried the cleaner tool, with no success. I’ve tried downloading the program from the Malwarebytes’ home page (directs to CNET) and FileForum site. I don’t know if the filehippo site would be any better. Would it present any problems, to click on reset the firewall once in a while? Is that like emptying your Temp folder?

Hi PC_confused

The mbam-clean.exe is a whopping 59kb. It's lite and fast and does the deed.  I have it saved it in my Downloads along with the sasuninstall.exe which is a huge 56 kb.  I was just offering what I would try...I like filehippo. better than the vendor sites.  Just always does a clean download,  I use the filehippo Update Checker.  So, it's a short ride to the download page.   http://filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/

I don't have a clue if this will resolve anything...just seemed easy to try.  If it don't help. U haven't lost anything.  The timing of the mbam mess is so close to recent Windows Updates and IE Compatibility Update that ?  IDK

As others have tried cleaner and fresh install...then, I must be barking at the wrong tree.   The FW reset is just to clean out program update exe's and other infrequently used entries in Program Controls.  I like keeping the Program list as small as possible....makes it easier to check for uninvited guests.  The mbam thread reads like for some nothing works.   I'm just baffled by the random nature of the mbam issue.  Keep your sas updated and wait till the dust settles on mbam.  I prefer mbam over sas.  I have mbam disabled at startup.

Recently started scanning with HitmanPro.  My free toolbox includes Sandboxie, MBAM, SAS, Glary Utilities, CCleaner, Defraggler, Update Checker, HitmanPro & Secunia PSI.

Just trying to be supportive....this 1.44 to 1.45 mess just smells funny.

I, too, was having trouble with MBAM not updating.

Yesterday, I had to uninstall NIS 2010 and reinstall NIS 2010 beacuse some of my security entries were not showing up in the history logs after the auto update to 17.6.0.32

Anyway

after the uninstall and reinstall of NIS 2010 with 17.6.0.32, now my MBAM updates just fine! and I no longer get the error I was getting.

The only difference I can see is that I no longer have the add on pack with parental controls installed. since I have to wait for the new version (AOP 4.6) since AOP 4.5 is no longer compatible with my NIS 2010 since I uninstalled 17.5.0.127 and installed 17.6.0.32.

So, i don't know if something happened during the uninstall and reinstall of NIS 2010 or because I no longer am running the Add on pack with parental controls, but MBAM is updating ok now.

Thanks, Kevin

Hi,

try this way

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r24058466-Cannot-Update-Malwarebytes-Ver-145

A solution is posted by "fruty" in the Malwarebytes Forum. You must open Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and go into "settings" from there go to "updater settings" All three boxes should be checked and Proxy server:85.25.139.53 and Port:3128. This works perfectly. You do not need a username and password. Thanks "fruty" Oh yeah by the way I am using a Symantec product i.e. NIS2010.

and the update works

@ thread

any concerns pulling updates via an unknown proxy server....just asking (my 1.45 is ok)

and the clean re-install steps (mbam cleaner & temp disable AV) posted on mbam forum does not fix 1.45...just asking

and the Auto Protect Exclusions posted on mbam forum does not fix 1.45...just asking

MBAM 1.44 & NIS 2010 17.5: no problem updating MBAM

MBAM 1.45 & NIS 2010 17.5: problems updating MBAM error 12150

no fix suggested on this site or the site of MBAM helped

then NIS updated to version 17.6 and the problems of updating MBAM 1.45 were gone...

However, today NIS 2010 17.6 had a new program update, I had to restart my computer, after reboot ccproxy.exe (part of NIS2010) asked for permission to access the internet (I have set NIS that way), so clearly ccproxy.exe was changed by this update...

and guess what: MBAM 1.45 update error 12150 (httpheaders) is back!!!

So something in NIS 2010 is blocking MBAM from accessing the internet again after today's update... :(

Seems I have found the guilty one in NIS 2010 that is causing the trouble with updating MBAM 1.45:...

it is ccproxy.exe part of the Norton Add-On Pack!

I have the following versions: NIS2010  17.6.0.32; and the Norton Add-On Pack  4.6.0.10.

In the Settings of NIS2010 you can go to Parental & Privacy Controls, if you turn them off there is no problem with updating MBAM, turning Privacy control on again gives the known update problems (error 12150).

So the question is now: can Norton give us an update/patch for the Add-On Pack so that the users of NIS2010 can start using MBAM normally again? :smileyhappy:

Renehoss, by gosh your on to something. I did the same and it also worked. On my backup mbam updates failed then started to work for awhile them error.

@ thread

Please update the status of your mbam ...see if we can get a consensus of what needs to be fixed.

MBAM or NORTON ?

bjm_

After disabling Privacy Control in the AddOn Pack (I don't use Parental Control), I'm now able to update MBAM successfully.

renehoss,  Looks like you might deserve Detective status..  I also tried disabling the Norton Add-On Pack and Malwarebytes' updated several times.  I might try a reboot and see if Malwarebytes' still updates.  I disabled both Privacy and Parental control and could update Malwarebytes'.  If either one or both Controls are enabled, Malwarebytes' will not update?  Thanks for the snooping around and finding a possible solution.

renehoss,

I too think that the add on pack is where the conflict with MBAM  might be. on page 3 of this message I posted that on 4/7/2010 I had to uninstall Norton addon pack since it conflicted with my install of NIS 2010 17.6.0.32 and since then I have been able to update MBAM.

I am now waiting for the update to The addon PAck (4.6) since I can't install the old AddOn Pack 4.5.
