Mbam problems with nis

Thanks for the word on ver. 1.46 of MBAM. I just installed it on my computer and the issue with MBAM updating if you are running NIS 2010 with addon pack is still present in my case. Floplot are you running the Norton addon pack ver 4.6.0.10?

Hi All,

Thanks for sharing this with us. We are able to reproduce this problem and currently investigating for the root cause. We will update this thread once we have an update.

Thanks

Ramesh

May we have an update from Symantec, please?

Michael

Yep, we need an update from Symantec....MBAM version 1.46 doesn't fix the update problem for me.

Cloudcroft,  1.46 has the same issues  as version 1.45 for me also.

Hello Symantec,

as you can see in the MBAM forum

http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showforum=41

there are huge update problems with MBAM 1.45 as well with the latest version 1.46

As Symantec itself has identified a problem with the Norton AOP which stops MBAM updating i guess it is time, to fix this problem asap. I cannot understand, as MBAM is advised from Symantec in several threads in this forum as a secret weapon against malware, that they are not able to fix this issue, that NIS users can update their MBAM product.

A shortly provided solution is therefore highly appreciated.

Michael

Hi,

Just checking to see if there is any updated status on this issue. The work around of disabling Parental Controls and Privacy Controls is working ok I guess.  This can't be the long term solution though.

Thanks for the update.

Whenever I go to download Mbam (free versiom) I get directed to the mirror Major Geeks to download Mbam is that O.K .Thanks.......Gorpy 1

Hello GORPHY1

Yes, GORPHY1, that is fine or you can use this site.

You can find Malwarebytes here

http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/

It is a safer location to get the program from than malwarebytes themselves because some malware creators have large lists of sites that they block. Please be careful to down load the correct program ----the FREE version of MALWAREBYTES. Do not download Spyware Doctor which is advertised on that page.

(Thanks to Delph for providing the alternative site)

stoneheart - Do you have either Norton's Parental or Privacy Controls Add-On Pack installed on your NIS 2010?  The update problem started with the Mbam progam version 1.45 and is still a problem with version 1.46.  If you have the Norton's Add-On Pack installed, something is blocking communications with the Malwarebytes' update program.  From all the Posts, it looks like Norton and Malwarebytes' are both trying to solve the communicating problem.  A work around, is to turn off Parental and Privacy Controls, update Malwarebytes' then turn Parental and Privacy Controls back on.  Hope a better fix is found soon.

Hello TomV-

Any chance we're closer to any sort of update? Still patiently waiting....

The problem got solved today when Norton 360 was updated to Norton 360 Version: 4.2.0.12. Now I can update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware even with Privacy Control Settings ON. It seems too have solved many other problems I had with the browser Internet Explorer. It doesnot seem to be problem with Add-ON.

MehulBhai - Have you tried using the Malwarebytes' update after restarting your PC?  Yesterday I received a note that I was updated to NIS 2010 17.7.0.12 and needed to reboot.  Before I rebooted, I went to Malwarebytes' and tried to update the program.  It worked and I was able to download the latest updates:smileyvery-happy:.  I thought Norton's finally found the problem and fixed it.  After I rebooted, I can no longer use the Malwarebytes' Update feature, I get the old error message again:smileysad:.

Hi PC_confused,

I meant the same thing as you said. Please read mu last post carefully. I meant my problem was solved. :smileyvery-happy::smileyvery-happy::smileyvery-happy:

I was even able to as many times I updated, atleast I did not get the error message.

no, the MBAM update doesn’t work after the latest update. Michael

Updated to 17.7.0.12, rebooted, and…MBAM still won’t update with the AddOn Pack active.

same for me, too. still can't update MBAM after NIS 2010 update to 17.7.0.12 and Norton AOP 4.7.0.4 enabled.

You all are not alone.  I don't think this issue is fixable.

Please find the latest Feedback from MBAM:

This particular method being used by Symantec on the Parental Controls is approaching end of life and they already have a new method they're going to use soon.
