MEDIUM - Unauthorized access blocked (open file)

I would like to know why I get lots of "MEDIUM - Unauthorized access blocked (open file)" messages, in my Norton security history, during the time that I'm on youtube.com. Do these messages mean that someone has uploaded something bad along with their video?

As you can see, youtube is considered a safe site.

I would say that Norton is just blocking a program from accessing it's own files.  This is normal and we can see this whenever any program, including Windows processes, try to access Norton files.  Norton blocks these attempts and usually the program or process continues to work as normal.

Ok. Thanks for the help. Is it a problem with the youtube servers? I find it hard to believe that I'd be attacked by the person who posted lots of famous craft how-to videos...but it also happened the day before yesterday...I was watching some official videos by Fefe Dobson and my security history showed all these orange dots. Lots of people have viewed the videos so I would think that they'd be safe...maybe youtube has something on their server that they don't know about?

Also, I followed the instuctions that someone gave me a while ago: I turned off file and printer sharing and I also made my network protected (since nobody but me is using it so I don't need it to be shared). I went to view the youtube craft video again but didn't get any orange dots. Maybe the hacker has gone to bed. I will keep an eye on things.

Thanks for the link. Why would I get so many red dots during two times where I was on youtube (and they were all the "open file" messages instead of the "blocked" messages)? Is there something about watching a youtube video that is making my system more vulnerable?

All "unauthorized access blocks" pertain to Norton Product Tamper Protection preventing another process running on your system (even Windows, itself) from accessing a Norton file or process.  These events are almost always harmless.  An attack from YouTube would possibly generate an Intrusion Prevention alert, but it would not cause an "unauthorized access block."  If you are seeing both, they are probably unrelated and the only ones of concern would be the Intrusion Prevention notices.
