yes, sorry.

I meant width indeed. I will look for the threads

But in addition some threads are getting so long that the thread structure takes most of the screen and gets very condensed widthwise.

Here's the classic example:

No the solution is not to change to blog view .....

The only time I've had an issue with width is that if one of the posts in a thread contains an extremely long URL, the "message area" (I don't really know what to call it) expands off the right side. One posting then affects the entire thread.

This is a common problem, though, with most message boards. Don't know if anything can be done about it. And, I probably can't find any of the few examples I've seen here.

In some threads the posts are gettinmg so long that it even fits on my screen. Is this a forum bug or is it me?

The best solution on the long URLs is to use the Insert/Edit Link icon on the toolbar:   Insert/edit link

But when you do -- just copy / paste the URL into the highlighted box -- also drop down one box and change the default to Open link in new Window. This saves anyone opening the link losing their place in the thread.

The "worst" cause is when people paste in images since as you say subsequent messages inherit the width.

This is true, one long URL will make the entire thread need scrolling left and right.   The nice thing is that Tony and I both jump on those pretty quickly and edit the post, turning the long URL into a shorter link.  We hate to scroll left and right when reading a thread also :smileysurprised::smileyvery-happy:    Anytime you encounter a  thread that has a long URL your a welcome to hit the Abuse Report link and report it.

There is a software solution coming, as part of the forum, but most likely not in the very short term.   I really hope you can't find examples!  we try and edit them away.   There have been a couple posts with images (screen shots) lately that made the message too wide, I haven't played with trying to reformat those through html yet because they haven't been too bad.

Here's an image example, over in Public Beta but it just came through on my email advisories.

looks like the author got that one about 3 minutes later..... :smileywink:

Do you mean the width <--------> wise or height wise? Depending on the reason, we like to correct width issues; so let us know about threads with problems like that. Thanks!
