Microphone Virus

When I plugged the microphone into the PC Norton Blocked a virus called Trojan.Gen that was coming from a file on the microphone called VoiceClient.exe Norton protected my computer but it cant remove Trojan.Gen from my microphone that I bought from an auction site.

This microphone was meant to be a professional one and I never dreamed that a microphone could come with a virus. And is it safe to use with Norton Blocking the Trojan virus or could the virus hurt the PC plugging it in all the time?

Is there anyway of getting the virus off this microphone? Or any safe replacement files for it?

I wouldn't have thought a microphone itself could contain a virus but any software installed on the computer for its use may do so & the virus tries to run when the microphone is plugged in.

Perhaps more knowledgeable users will be able to offer more help.

hokay,

Hang on and do nothing to the computer and see if Quads here can help identify the problem -- he's our resident wizard and takes messages from the oldest first.

If you have another microphone, try plugging it in and see if the same thing happens. If it does, the virus is in your computer and not in either microphone.
