it seems that after installing Norton, attachments that have been downloaded from microsoft outlook such as pdf, jpg and powerpoint files are unable to be viewed or are corrupted. Any solutions?

Do the email folders and messages all open normally with no issues? Is it only attachments that won't open? What happens when you try to open an attachment? Are you getting any error messages?
Can you tell us the exact wording of any error messages? Or post a screenshot?
What version of Outlook are you running? Is it part of Office?
Can you save the documents to your computer and open them?
