Microsoft says Windows September updates break SMBv1 shares

Any Norton users reading this who still utilize the old SMBv1 protocol should read the entire article below. Specifically if you are seeing issue with shares.

This issue connecting to shared files and folders using the deprecated SMBv1 protocol on NetBIOS over TCP/IP is now resolved in the latest Preview builds for both Win 10 v22H2 (KB5066198 / OS Build 19045.6396 Preview released 25-Sep-2025) and Win 11 v24H2 (KB5065789 / OS Build 26100.6725 Preview released 29-Sep-2025).

Confirmed. Thanks for the heads up. To be honest, using SMBv1 is as dangerous as it can get. It is installed by default on Home and Pro versions of Windows 10 and 11 and should be disabled. I have it disabled and do not have any connectivity or other issues.
