Every time Norton Family tries to log my son off when his time limit hits I get the following error.
Runtime error
Program C:\program files\norton family\engine\2.6.0.73\ccsvchst.exe
R6025
-pure virtual function call
Is there a fix? This is Windows XP.
Hi DarinAlvarez,
Have you tried to uninstall/reinstall Norton Family on the machine?
Thanks,
Katie
Sorry for the delay but my son broke his keyboard. I uninstalled then reinstalled and things are now worse. Norton family shows in the system tray but does not time or site block. I am having this problem on both windows xp computers in the house. When I click view house rules the page is blank even though the house rules are up to date.
Hi DarinAlvarez,
What version of Norton Family is installed on the machine now (We had a new update released last week with version 2.8.0.5)?
When you reinstalled Norton Family, did everything look normal during installation?
When you check your monitored child's profile online at Settings -> Profile, does it show the child is monitored in green?
Thanks,
Katie
2.8.0.5. Yes from what I could tell it looked normal. I do get an error the first time I assign accounts but this has always done this and the accounts look fine on-line. Not sure about the “in green” but it says that the child is protected on both computers.
DarinAlvarez,
I will be glad to setup a remote session with you if you are interested in having on with me. Please send me a private message via the forum for details.
"in green" means that when you check the message "XXX is being protected" at Settings -> Profile online, the message is in green.
What security product(s) and version(s) do you have on the monitored PC?
I assume the error message message you get now is Program C:\program files\norton family\engine\2.8.0.5 \ccsvchst.exe
instead of
Program C:\program files\norton family\engine\2.6.0.73\ccsvchst.exe
right?
Thanks,
Katie
I wasn’t getting any error message anymore. I figured out a fix for the not monitoring though. I turned off monitoring via the on-line console then saved. Turned it back on then saved. Then updated the house rules. Now time and website blocking seem to be working. Strange that I have to do that after uninstalling then reinstalling. I will keep a look out for the error message and post back in a few days with the result.
DarinAlvarez,
Thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear it works for you now. Sure, if the error comes up again, please let me know.
Thanks,
Katie
The error occurred again tonight when he hit his time limit. It reads the same with the 2.8.0.5 change you mentioned. I will send you a message.
DarinAlvarez,
I checked with the team for the issue and it looks like it was an issue in previous versions and it has been resolved in 2.8.05. Could you uninstall/reinstall 2.8.0.5 again to see if it helps. If not, we will have a remote session if you prefer.
Thanks,
Katie
Uninstalled, restarted, reinstalled, restarted, still get the same error. Shortly after I now get a Symantec service framework has encountered a problem and needs to close error.
DarinAlvarez,
For the framework error, please follow the steps below to see these help.
Thanks,
Katie
The framework error comes after the installation is successful. I usuall happens shortly after the Microsoft visual c++ runtime error.
DarinAlvarez,
I've send you a private message. When you get a chance, please check it.
Thanks,
Katie
