win. xp/sp2/ NISS 2009 -16.7.2.11/ I.E.6x/ outlook exp.
I had just written in other day and thought things were 'solved' and marked that post as 'solved' so that's why i'm starting a 'new' one in case no one would read the former marked ''solved' if i posted there now.
I was getting a popup from ''microsoft ' with lots of red 'shields' and trojans showing in the ''my computer' area where these were showing with a 'scale' in progress ..i knew this had to be bogus from a recent post on this board ....i immediately at that time shut-down the computer - rebooted and did full sys. scan - all o.k.
This board felt i did the right thing and i don't think any further 'actions' were suggested...
Today (sun. 9/13) a repeat of the above only this time i hit ''close task' to close out the connection....did a full sys scan again - nothing found ! Did a full sys scan - nothing found.
to double check myself i disconnected the internet cable from the rear of the external modem supplied by my cable company so i'd have no connected to the internet. did a full sys scan/all drives/ folders/ .... again - nothing turned up as a problem .
when the first occurrence happened, I posted on another website offering Windows help and was told to download and run ''highjack' This then make a screen copy of what was found and post it back there.
I'm 'chicken' about downloading anything so i haven't done that yet ...i think they want to see what's in my Registry ?
Also i noted that this new 'things' started at the time i received the new update of NISS to 16.7.2.11 ...prior to that i have 16.00.02 (or close to that) without a bit of trouble !!!
So now what ? thanks in advance for your advices ...EDYTHE
