Ever since installing the Norton Security Suite (from Comast) I have been experience issues with Microsoft Word. When I try to open a Word Document I get the following error "Microsoft Word not responding". I am running Vista SP2 and Microsoft Word 2007.
can you please tell us the exact version of your Norton product? 1. Open the main window 2. Click on Help & Support -> About menu 3. On the About window find the version number (it will look like this: 5.1.0.29)
Also is the Office Scan in the Antivirus settings turned on?
I am on 5.1.0.29 and my Microsoft Office Scan is set to Off.
What happens if you set this option to on? Same results?
Other questions:
1. Does this still happen after uninstalling Comcast Security Suite to see if it fixes the issue? If so, then how about temporarily disabling some of its features like firewall, antivirus protection, etc. after reinstalling it? 2. Are you running Office on a network? If so, then there is a known issue where the Microsoft program will be really slow. Try a local installation.
3. Did you get all LiveUpdates for Comcast Security Suite and reboot when requested?
4. Have you tried running a full system scan with Comcast Security Suite? 5. Are you trying to open new Microsoft Word program? Or are you trying to open a file? Is the file malicious? Is the file corrupted? Were you able to launch the same file on a different computer? Do all files have this problem when opening?
6. What is your system setup like? OEM (preinstalled with software)? Which Windows OS (32-bit/64-bit, edition, etc.)?
