Have GW E-4200 PC (400Mhz) with 80 GB WD IDE Master HD and 120GB WD IDE Slave HD.
Master has all applications etc. Run Win XP Home SP 2. Norton Ghost 10. No issues yet except
PC slow. Have XP Home CD.
Bought Dell GX240 PC (1.8GHz) with 40GB Seagate IDE HD, empty. Have XP Home CD. I want
to migrate over the WD 80GB and 120GB drive to the new(er)Dell with the least amount of effort and
more importantly in the safest way. I have gotten conflicting views of this: some say a direct swap will
work others say registry issues will wreak havoc. I am inclined to believe the latter.
Has anyone performed such a migration with Win XP and NG 10? Any guidelines to offer? It seems like
a pedestrian challenge but I am not sure.
